Hydroponic Drip System - Can i finish in 6" rockwool?

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Sun_Devil, Feb 9, 2009.

  1. I have a drip system with the reservoir and then 4 separate trays for plants... can I just finish in 6" rockwool cubes that sit on the trays? I've seen that done before but I'm not positive they finished like that.

If not, are the trays to be used to finish or just start the plants?

    I'm confused

  2. you should try clay pellets as the other mediem and you should be fine:bongin:

  3. But can I leave them in the trays like that? The trays are only a couple inches deep so not much hydroton would fit.

I suppose I'll just have to use planters for each and make my hydro system much larger than I want to. Oh well, I think that's best anyway so they each have their own container and can grow larger.

    Thanks

  4. I have the GH water farm and 6in is more then enuff. I just will end up topping off with hydroton.

So you should be fine, just use hydroton or someother medium so the roots can grow through it as they wish.

  5. if a couple of inches means 2 then no dut if its 5 and up then thats good youll have no problems good luck
