helo im a soil grower and get good results but i want to know is hydro worth it i was thinkin about switching to hydro because you can yeild more? any negatives anyone know thx
I switched to hydro and got better yields so it worked for me, but by then I was a more experienced grower too. Hydro is generally easier to maintain but has to be carefully monitored or you could kill all your plants at once. You also have to choose a hydro method and there is a learning curve. I have friends who switch back and forth between dirt and hydro.
I'm in the process of converting to hydro as well. Been doing soil for a few years. I'm studying horticulture as my degree so I think I have somewhat of a leg up. Needless to say, it can still be done. Do your research!!!!! ppm, ph, hydro systems, etc. I've heard that the yield is way more quality and larger. Again, like the dude above said, there is a learning curve so make sure you review what you're reading numerous times to ingrain it in your brain.
i have heard quantity is improved but quality is meant to better in soil, no? i could be wrong you know i will do some reading after all, cant kill me to learn and give a go thanks guys
Depends what you mean by quality. Some people consider quality in organically grown. Others consider it the best fruit regardless of medium or nutrient. Hydro is considered high quality because the plant can directly uptake water and nutrients, without having to search it out in soil. If done properly, you should see increased yield and quality.
I cant say much but I can say from personal exp that i put a blue dream that was started in soil in a 5 gal dwc and one in kept in the soil and the dwc is 2-3x bigger 2 weeks later so i say its better in my experience so far at least as long as you can attend to it frequently ph etc in morning and at night.
Hydro is alot more time consuming than growing in soil. Its alot faster process and in my opinion for indoor growing its the best option.
I'm a first timer, I feel like I finally got my 1 plant in DWC dialed in and grow environment homeostatic and it is super simple, not easy but simple. Ive gone up 36 hours without checking on the plant and when I do I see a lot of new growth and existing growth has gotten significantly bigger, and all that's needed is a top off with some full strength nute water I already have ready. http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1329219-My-2Nd-Real-Grow-Attempt%2C-W--Pics%21-Bubble-Cloner-clone-Machine%2C-Dwc
Ive been using an ebb & flo it's more forgiving than DWC i believe, im 3 weeks into,Flower and getting good results even tho i had severe,PH issues during veg
