Hydro Nutrient Brand Survey

  1. I am curious what other brands of nutes ppl use and why, I have entertained the thought of switching for years but am hesitant in leaving my comfort zone. (if it works dont fix it?)

So tell me what brand works for you, your recipe line up, how long you have used it and why

    - for me 5 years,

    Techna Flora-
    Boost
    Grow
    Bloom
    Thrive Alive Red
    Awsome Blossoms
    Magical
    Sugar Daddy.

  2. I use all Advance Nutrients for my grows. Micro, Grow, and Bloom for vegging.

Same thing for flowering, with the following supplements:

    Bud Blood
    Big Bud (Powder)
    Overdrive

I also use Jumpstart for my clones and seedlings.

Haven't ever had a problem with AN so I never had a reason to switch to anything else...

  3. I just switched over to Dutchmaster Gold and they're great. I was on Canna b4 but Dutchmaster is easier, cheaper, and better results

  4. Are you seeing above average results with AN? I'm using the GH on soilless mix but I'm switching to CoCo and I'm up the air between AN and Canna.

  5. never done hydro extensively besides helped a friend with DWC bubbling buckets but I have seen many do really great things with the Botanicare PBP line along with Liquid Karma and Cal-Mag when needed. THey did so with great ease as well and didn't have many problems with PH or ppm when the water source was good to begin with. My soil grow under the 400 watt CMH was done with PBP nutes, LK and grandma's molasses when needed. AS you can see from my pics they enjoyed the nutes quite considerably and I used them every other watering to get those results.

  6. I'm not sure what you would call above average. I did just havest yesterday. I LSTed my two plants, and I ended up with six buds about the size of the one in the attached picture. The strain is Hashberry. Keep in mind this is only my second grow...

  7. Stick with what you know works man. The only other comparable to the ease of GH is Advanced. PureBlend is good also, but it has too many deficiencies. IE Cal-Mag. 90% of pure blend grows I have seen has to have the Cal-Mag added. Why go with a nuit that you know lacks certain key nuits.

  8. Delicious!!!!!

  9. I use the Lucas formula two part and about 7 AN sups with what i call Excellent results, but this is my 1st grow. I have seen many grows to compare to and mine are very good IMO.

  10. There are many famous nutrient brands for hydroponic growing.
    Advanced nutrients
    Duct canna
    Techna flora
    Fox farms

  11. I'm with you fireatwill - if it ain't broke don't fix it. I messed around with some other stuff for awhile, but my first crop with AN just clicked. Smooth as silk and great results so I just stuck with that.

I'll admit, I might pick up some other stuff in a pinch now and then, or just to play around with, but advanced is my go-to nutes.

turbodriven - I haven't done coco myself, but Advanced Nutrients has a Coco Coir specific nutrient that's supposed to kick ass. Monkey juice or something like that. Might give that a try.

  12. I think where I was going with this was, TF products have got me using up to 7 different compounds now, I would like to go to a simpler 2-3 part mix.

AN 3 part looks good and I wonder if I can pull decent crops with out all the add-ons other nutes reccomend.

  13. Sure, you can grow decent crops with basic nutes. The additives are just that - extra stuff. It definitely makes a difference to use them if you do it right, but you don't have to. Personally I wouldn't grow with just base nutrients, but it can be done. The plants will be healthy, just not as vibrant as they could be.

  14. I'm a coco grower and all I use is GH and the lucas formula... micro and bloom, occassionally I throw in some kool bloom or some AN barricade as a Ph up.

But alot fert companies are adding coco ferts to their line up, which is ok, it's just the price that they are charging that is ridiculous.

  15. I use almost everything by AN Connoiseur 2 part. Sensi Grow & Bloom 2 part...

Bigbug, Overdrive, Carboload, Nirvana, Iguana grow & bloom, Met Grow & Bloom. Voodoo Juice, Piranha, Tarantula, Scorpion Juice and a few others that I cant think of right now..

i get results like these: running 2 x 1000watt Eye Hortilux Super HPS...

  16. I can't say enough good about Advanced Nutrients.

I've tried the cheap stuff and there's just no comparison. I love it.

  17. GH Grow, Micro and Bloom with monster bloom as a bloom enhancer. results not too bad --> 110 grams per tree.

i am experimenting currently with a toned down lucas formula (gh micro and bloom) with florilicous grow, bcuzz root and bcuzz grow for veg. and monster bloom and bcuzz bloom for flowering. we'll see!

  18. I'm in the process of building a home-made hydro setup and was thinking about using guano and/or other organic plant foods, if anybody has any recommendations about npK balanced gunaos or any other good organic sources of food it would be appreciated.

  19. What kind of hydroponics system are you planning to build? It makes a bit of a difference especially if you want to do organic. For example, aeroponics or anything with a small sprayer nozzle can cause huge headaches with certain types of organic nutrients. Organics have larger bits of stuff in them than the chem salt fertilizers and those bits are "gunky".

That's the nature of organics. They come from stuff that used to be alive, and stuff like that is "gunky". They've also got all kinds of microbes in them to eat that stuff and turn it into nutrients the plants can actually eat, so you've got to worry about keeping those microbes alive and not accidentally start growing the bad kind of microbes, and so forth.

So if you're building something simple like a dwc or hempy, organics isn't too big a problem since there isn't much to get gunked up. But if you're planning to do NFT or aeroponics you can have a lot of problems with organics unless you go with the really high quality stuff like AN or something, and even then there's going to be more problems than you'd have with a pure chem salt fertilizer probably. (Can someone else offer some first-hand experience on that? I haven't used organics in that kind of system myself.)

That's why I ask what kind of hydroponics you want to do.

  20. that's a good question

hydroponics can be really complicated, and if I've learned anything running aeroponics its that you've got to watch your nozzles. I don't touch organics myself - it's just not worth the headache. I spend enough time cleaning and changing sprayers as it is.
