Hey GC, So ive been trying to get into hydro and to be honest i just have a lot of questions about getting started. I understand ph, nutes, and what to do and all but im just confused about some of the process. Ive got my bubble bucket set up. Its tested, my box is ready to go, and the seed is sitting in the rockwool cube. I know im suppose to transfer it to the bucket after the roots break through the cube but this is where im stuck... at this point should i just have plain water in the bucket or some weak nutes as well? when should i begin to give it full nutes? any help clearing the beginning stages of this would be great. i get how to mix nutes im just a little fuzzy on how this all works starting out. thanks a lot.
I would just stick to plain water for the first couple of weeks. Once the roots break thru, it is ready to transplant. Start with very mild nutes and monitor how the plant reacts.
for my current grow i stuck the cube with germd seed straight into my bucket(didnt wait for roots and just made sure she stayed moist) i also started 1/4 strength nutes at about 1 1/2 weeks and had no problems. my journal starts from the day i started with daily updates if you want to check it out. it might help answer some of your questions. check it out if you like(in my sig)
i just use ph'd water for about the first week and a half and then start off with 1/4 strength nutes. then about every 4-5 day i would bump it up 1/4 untill i reach full strength. its really all on how your plant responds though all strains are gona be different. check out my journal in my sig if you want it starts from day one and is updated daily so it might be able to help you out with some questions you have.
Yep, like these guys said... First wait for roots to come out of the bottom of the cube for best results. Keep it in a humidome for this part. After that: 1. Use plain R/O water (or let your tap water sit for 24-36 hrs to let it "purify" in a sense) 2. Get the bubbles right under the net cup, about an inch or two below 3. Put the rockwool in the hydroton somewhat close to the bottom 4. Sit and wait! 5. Once the roots touch, add a mild solution, 1/8 strength or so, ESPECIALLY if you use R/O water which is stripped of everything. Ask any more questions if you got 'em!
