Hydro For First Time

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by GhanjaFog, Jun 19, 2014.

  1. Done a good amount of soil grows over the last three years, really liked how they came out, but I've seen people get some amazing results from Hydroponics.

I can build hydro setups, I've looked into that a bit, but I want to grow organically so I'm wondering what I should use for nutrients and to control the up/down of the PPM.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :) :smoking:

  2. Organic hydro is a PITA.

  3. From what I've read organic and hydro is very difficult. All that living shit in your res causes all sorts of problems.

  4. I've heard that too, but as long as you keep light from getting into the res it should keep things from growing, I would think so anyway.

  5. Personally organic hydro isn't worth it for me. Organic nutrients need to be broken down so the plants can take them in, while synthetic nutrients are readily available for the plants. You can do either way but from what I've seen nutrients unlock the true potential of hydroponics. I still use an organic microbial blend with it but my base nutes are all synthetic. Its just more important to have a good flush and be careful with overfeeding when using synthetic.

  6. I agree with all the above. Trying to use organic fertiliser in hydro nullifies some of the key advantages of growing hydro so I just don't get the point. Regular hydro nutes are already usable by the plant and do not need converting by bacteria
