Hydro, DWC, PH and Phosphorus and Potassium deficiencies

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by flippinawesome, Jan 20, 2010.

  1. I am using DWC, 6 clones per 30 liter tub, 2 airstones. Under a 8 tube T5 fixture. I am growing Indos, Bubblegum, and Platinum Bubba. Plus nursing a Bluberry and a Triesel.
The water I am using is bottled water PH 6, PPM, is like 13.

    The Nutes are Hesi.

I am seeing what looks like a slight Phosphorus or Potassium deficiency. Mine are growing fast so I am not too worried.

My Question: In reading the thread on identifying sick plants it said that in hydro, Phosphorus and potassium is locked out at PH 6.0 - 6.5 and Potassium at 6.0-8.5.
The article repeatedly recommends a PH of 5 - 6 for soilless mediums. BUT the Hesi instruction recommend a PH of 5.8-6.0, and say to increase to 6.2-6.5 for flowering to increase uptake of (k) and (ph). Would that slow or lock out (k) and (ph)?
I am still in veg and am going to lower my ph now, but why do the Hesi and the article contradict each other?

Also, when I mix a new batch of solution my ppm is only 310 which seems VERY low from the recommended 800-1300 (from article). Heci recommends an EC of 1.2. My ppm equals ~.5 EC. From reading around it seems that Hesi Nitrogen does not register on an EC, so that may explain it..

Any input is appreciated. I will Upload pic shortly

  2. I addded some pics
    Any thoughts?

  3. The pics are in My Gallery link.

  4. Any thoughts guys? things are getting worse, I have diluted all my nutes down to 1/2 - 1/3 levels.

The leaves are getting very "eagle Talon" shaped.

  5. 1 its possible that you have you water level too high in the bucket.....
2 its possible that you have sulfur, or magnesium defiencies because most hydro companies dont put them in their ferts.
3 it possible that you have a ph lockout, which makes absorbing nutrients impossible.
4 its possible your water gets too warm.
    .......

im guessing maybe #1, #2, or #3. maybe a combo of them.

  6. Id cover up that rockwool. it can get moldy or have mildew, if not protected from light.

  7. When I used a 17 litre tub i had 6 airstones, hooked up to 2 pumps, your plants could be starving for air. id make sure there is at least a inch or two between the bottom of the basket, and the top of the water.
