  1. ok, i put together a makeshift hydro drip system, but i have a question, i have run out of money and have everything put together, but i have no medium....i was planning on using those clay rock things in the net pot, but have no $ for them now, so can i use those ordinary white garden pebbles as long as i wash them really good and keep a drip going to keep all the rocks moist? i made a pic in MSpaint to help u guys answer my question

  2. Should be able to....they might not hold ph or absorb water, so it might be more work, but it should hold you over

  3. do you think it would be possible to grow a plant to maturity this way??? im planning on just having a more rappid drip in loo of absorbant clay stones, that way all the pebbles stay moist all the time

  4. Try it....sounds like fun

  5. have another idea to....maybe i can run the pump at full blast (125 gph) instead of drip, but for, lets say half hour on, half hour off, and so on, then experiment with different water pumping schedules with my outlet timer...eventually i should come up with the perfect schedule to get the perfect amount of water flowing over the roots:hello: this should prove to be a very interesting experiment ;)

edit: instead of the "drip system" method, ima call it the "waterfall method" unless its been done before (which everything has) and it already has a name :p

  6. why not just leave the waterfall on all the time.... unless you have a air stone in your dwc.... you would be starving the plant of oxygen when the pump is off

inline pumps cause heat... so be prepared for high soup temps... have the frozen water bottles on standby... and/or be prepared to remove the inline pump at a moments notice to be replaced with a air pump if you cant combat the high temps

take lots of pics... this could be fun, even if it has been done before

  7. i didnt put it in the grade-school level drawing, but yes i have 3 small airstones constantly airrating the resevoir, i just thought the constant waterfall might cause over-watering issues....as for pics, if i had a camera there wouldn't be a msPaint drwing in the first post :p

  8. plant has broke "ground" is 2 inches tall, and is starting on its first set of fan leaves.....seems to be workin

  9. pics or this never happen

  10. -_- .....gimme a day or so to find sum1 that has a camera i can borrow, on a fiff note, the tips of the smal single finger fan leaves are yellowing a little bit and have kinda hooked downward...any ideas?

  11. incorrect PH

  12. well that is kind of vague, lol.....my meter reads 6.13....should i up or down it? i know this PH is good for soil but not sure about hydro:confused:

  13. 5.8. always shoot for that

    make sure its calibrated

  14. and what do you mean by calibrated?

  15. Calibrate your meter
