  1. I always knew Hunter Thompson was sweet, but after reading the wikipedia entry ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_S._Thompson ) on him, shitdamn he was a fucking hero. Anybody who doesn't knwo much about him, pick up Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and read some of his articles online. Fucking sweet guy, too bad he committed suicide almost 2 years ago :(

  2. hes my favorite person

  3. He was an amazing guy, a really, really good writer, and just such a badass. One of my greatest regrets in life was discovering his books only after his suicide. I suggest you buy the Fear and Loathing Criterion dvd as it has some really cool interviews and stuff and a documentary, check out Breakfast with Hunter too, its friggin hilarious.

  4. He was a great man.

    A very great man indeed.

  5. I feel as though he were a personal friend.

I really do -- he was an inspiration and he lives on in us all.

  6. Heh, I was always curious of your avatar and now I know who he is haha. He def was an amazing guy.

  7. hunter was chill, very interesting dude to say the least

  8. I have always had a great respect for Hunter. He was a wonderful journalist and person. I hope wherever he is, he is writing yet another yarn to be appriciated by his people in the afterlife.

  9. Yea he really was... Fear and Loathing is one of my FAV movies.. as u can tell by my sig. i have the movie and the book. again enyone reading this if youve never seen it be sure to pick up Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

  10. "We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold..."

"My attorney had never been able to accept the notion, often espoused by former drug abusers, that you can get a lot higher without drugs than with them. And neither have I, for that matter."

    Best lines ever.

  11. Lol. read my sig.

  12. "In 1970 Thompson ran for sheriff of Pitkin County, Colorado on the "Freak Power" ticket of promoting drugs decriminalization (but for use only, not trafficking, as he disapproved of profiteering), tearing up the streets and turning them into grassy pedestrian malls, banning any building so tall as to obscure the view of the mountains, and renaming Aspen, Colorado "Fat City." The incumbent Republican sheriff whom he ran against had a crew cut, prompting Thompson to shave his head bald and refer to his opposition as "my long-haired opponent."

Such a great guy. Really, if you are looking for a good read he is definitely worth checking out.

  13. I just recently got into Thompson. Seems like he led an extremely interesting life.

As you can tell from my sig, I like alot of what he espoused when it came to . . . well, living, i guess.

But yes, the next book I'm going to pick up is definately Fear and Loathing, and maybe some Hell's Angels and others. I haven't even seen the movie in its entirety yet, so that's on the list too.

  14. Aye, he got me into reading, lol....

  15. Some excerpts I highlighted when reading Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72

"We are not a nation of truth-lovers."

"Here was a White House directive saying several million dollars would be spent to drill dozens of Name Players to stare at the camera and try to stop grinding their teeth long enough to say they hate drugs of any kind...and then the best running back in the world turns out to be a goddamn uncontrollable drugsucker."

"I began explaining to my accusers that I was really more of a political observer than a journalist. 'Have you run for office?' I snapped at one of them. 'No! I thought not, goddamnit! You don't have the look of a man who's been to the well. I can see it in your face!'"

"A week earlier I'd been locked into the idea that the Redskins would win easily - but when Nixon came out for them and George Allen began televising his prayer meetings I decided that any team with both God and Nixon on their side was fucked from the start."
