First indoor grow. 4x3x72 tent with ac t6 fan and carbon filter. I have 3 other smaller fans going. I 2 ladies going. Autos flowering. I can’t seem to drop humidity. Fluctuating between 55-60% spikes at times to 65%. Currently venting in same room but setting up venting out window. My question is what else can be done. Plants are looking healthy but after losing some much outdoor crop to mold I prefer to avoid it again. Looking into dehumidifier just not sure if it is needed. Any help/ input appreciated.
I grow autos with humidity in the mid 60s from seed to harvest, and have never had bud rot. An oscillating fan seems able to keep rot away.
I had my fan/filter outside my tent for many years and the large dehumidifier I bought dropped the humidity to about 35%.
I have a cheap dehumidifier and it manages to keep a very large room under 50% no problem. Gets annoying emptying it every single day but I just added it into my daily routine. Even at your current humidity levels you will be OK if you maintain good air flow.
Yea I just grab a cheap dehumidifier I’ll keep in the room but outside of tent and go from there. Thanks
I agree with everyone else, get the dehumidifier. Venting outside for most people is not all its cracked up to be. If its hot, humid, or cold outside, it could end up just causing you more issues. Any air you push out of your house has to be replaced which means outside air will be coming in around every little gap around every door and window and likely back in through your furnace/water heater venting which can cause some major major issues outside of the temperature/humidity issue. Where I live if its not snowing, its humid and or hot as hell. The grow room air is generally "better" than outdoor air. If its 70% humidity in grow room and 90% outside, venting outside would ultimately raise grow room humidity as well as the humidity in the entire house. It is typically best to deal with heat/humidity with the correct appliances (dehumidifier/air conditioner).
No problem. To combat all the climate control issues, i only do one larger grow in the winter. The light helps heat the house and keep the grow area at the temps it should be and humidity is never an issue. Makes for a fun winter project and keeps costs to a bare minimum.
