Humans Stopping Evolution

  1. so i saw another post on gc that reminded me of this theory i've always had. i believe that humans may lead to their own downfall because of modern medicine. while we can keep people alive and leads to an overall healthier society, this negates any possible chance of survival of the fittest. say cancer (or any disease, cancer is my example) cannot affect every human, but through advanced medicine we keep cancer patients alive, enabling the person with genes that allow humans to contract the disease to procreate. now this person's offspring can now contract cancer, mate, and pass it on. again, this goes with any disease or defect. i just want to hear your ideas on this theory. the main point i'm making is that humans will now never face adversity that evolution needs to make our species stronger or better suited to live on our planet.

  2. Spartans would kill infants with defects

  3. I had an argument with this girl at work.

I said medicine and hospitals will weaken humanity, and she goes 'what do you mean hurt? We're helping humanity, are you insulting my career choice? '.

So I tried explaining to her how we save all these diseased people and allow them to breed and she would not have it.

But I had the same thoughts.

  4. Exactly?

  5. yeah like i'm not saying we need to let people die but i think it's a thought that a lot of people haven't had

  6. there are links to genetic defects. stress links... not always.

women over 30 have higher chances of birth defects.
men over 50 produces children with hemothilia (non blood cloting desise).

i would say without hospitals to look after and save these children then they would die off.

i would say this is our genetic selection taking place. as we go past our peeks we start producing "bad" offspring.

  7. Humans may need a culling sometime before it gets too bad.

Like a fish tank, you pull out the sick to protect the healthy. Earth used to do it nautally, we are hindering it.

  8. And who's to say the tards aren't worth saving? Gotta get to the front of the line at disney somehow.

  9. Nature lol

Nature is who decides things like this.

Stick a retarded guy in the woods and he'll die.

Stick a white tiger in the wild it will die.

Stick a one legged zebra on the plains. It'll die.

That's just the way the world works. Humans will destroy themselves IMO so according to that logic + yours. We are the ones to say they aren't worth saving. Our actions worldwide are counterproductive to the idea of a species being able to grow and evolve.

  10. Yes, you are correct. I could not agree more. Thanks for posting :)
