Hi i am a new grower looking to get an led light i got a 400w hps in 3x3 tent.I would like something that is as good or better than 600w hps and that runs cooler then 600w hps since i have problems with heat in the summer even with my 400w hps.My budget is max 900 eur. This is the lights i was looking at which of this would you get and if there any other lights please only recommended light that are available in eu and no diy lights. OPTIC 4 OPTIC 4 XL OPTIC 6 COB 2x VIPARSPECTRA R900 SolarSystem 550 UVB without controler kind K3 Series 2 XL600
I advise you get yourself a pair of 260W 288 Quantum Board kits. About $550 USD range for two kits, plus shipping I assume. EDIT : sorry, missed the Euro source part of your post. 520W will dust a 600W HID light setup even run at lower than maxed out. Top bin Samsung diodes. Daylight spectrum no red, blue, or purple light emitting from your tent. More pleasing to you, the plants, and for photos. 260w Niemi LED Grow Light Powered With Samsung LM301B Diodes - Niemi LED Stay away from anything 'blurple'. Stay away from anything with a mounted driver. Run a wire lead, and mount the drivers outside the tent to reduce heat if need be. Very simple to do. I'm a truck driver, not an electrician, and I managed to wire all my quantum board kits myself. A power lead extension would be simple. You should be able to find a source for those lights in Europe, though not sure what the price might be. Most places that sell them also offer assembly so they are plug and play, usually about $10 a kit. That would assemble the entire kit, and if you need an extension, I bet if you asked in an email to them, they'd throw that in, maybe for a small fee. Those COB lights might do well, but they have mounted drivers, so any and all heat is trapped in the tent. Same with most all of them you listed I believe.
PhenoMorph i do agree that Quantum Board have the best light spread what i worry about them they have no glass protecting the lights and i have a dog a cat and 2 people who smoke in the house.I have to clean the filter every 1-2 months. I think my inline fan on the top of the tent would stick all the hairs and the dust to the light diodes and would be a bitch to clean with my 400w hps i just clean the bulb and i am good to go. Also i was looking and they hard to get in EU with paying 150to200 eur just for shiping the only QB i found was this one but the light spread doesnt look as good as the light you mention EasyGrow S1000 FullSpec. - LedGrowShop
Now that you say that, I seem to remember someone else mentioning they couldn't get them there a while back. That's too bad. I've been growing a long time, from commercial style to guerilla closets. Hands down the best lights I've ever dealt with. I don't even worry about the boards, I'm in there misting my vegging plants with the fans on lol! I even wipe them with a damp cloth every once in a while. I shut them down, give them a wipe, and turn them back on. Obviously not a wet, dripping cloth, and not spraying my plants, but misting them, but I have pushed what I would recommend anyone do, and I haven't zapped myself yet lol! But yeah, if you have to pay that kind of shipping, then no, I wouldn't go with them. I attached a pic of the ones I use. Awesome boards. 4800 diodes in my 6x6 tent
Hey wait!!! Those look just like a quad set of QB288's. It looks like a HLG550 kit almost. Those are the same quantum boards, just put together into one kit rather than two seperate kits. If you want to get technical, I guess only HLG can claim the 'quantum board' name as they started it all, but those are quantum boards. You can get them there. I even see a 800 panel like the ones I use on one of the ads on that site. Mine are actually 'knockoffs' from China but they rock the same Samsung diodes as the ones you linked and as HLG does. Get those if you can and aren't worried about cleaning them. I've never seen a hair stuck to the bottom side of my boards, only the top and heatsink
Okey a question dont you think the PPFD CHART is kind of bad it got 1800 middle,200 on edges vs 260w Niemi LED 700 middle,400 on edges dont really understand what is better.
Hmmmm. I almost don't believe the NiemiLed chart. It's 430 at each tent size interval on the diagonal. 2x2 = 430, 3x3 = 430, 4x4 = 430 I mean, how would that even be possible? Seems like horse pucky to me now that you pointed that out.
What i learned about lights is you looking to have 600-900 PPFD as even as possible in your tent and to look at Spectrum Quality if you look at the FLUENCE SPYDR that is expensive and a good light it got PPFD 900-1000 every where in a 4x4 box. Now if that true then a light that over 1000 par you just gonna burn your plants is that right? NiemiLed chart that got to be bullshit you cant have the same par reading in a 2x2 tent and a 4x4 tent it seem too good to be true.I found a different model 260w Niemi LED Grow Light Powered With Samsung LM301H Diodes - Niemi LED and it got correct par readings.
7.50 $ to have a glass shop pre cut your plexiglass so you can drill four holes and attach the plexiglass over your 2V 288 quantum boards ………..…………….. I am running twelve 2v 288 Samsung/horticulture lighting group quantum boards . Every worry you have mentioned either isn't a problem or is very easy to modify so the problem no longer exists . If you think you already don't like that style of LED light fine , but you don't have to make up problems that don't exist . If you got that much pet hair in your grow area then it will be in your buds ... Maybe close up your tent , keep your grow area vacuumed and put some filters in to catch the pet hair . I have DIY furnace filters installed on my tents . Straight up there is no Lighting that pet hair will not get into and the Samsung 2v 288 boards are thee easiest LED lights to blow off or keep clean . Sorry you don't have the personally knowledge about all the different kinds LED lighting ... But the 2v 288 Quantum boards is maybe the best grow light on the market ..It is the most energy efficient grow light known to man at this time . You need 28 Watts per square foot of grow space of the Cree/Cob or the Samsung QB . All the cheap LED grow lights ( Blurples ) burn twice the power and put out half the light . You need 48 watts per square foot of the blurple LED lights ... If you make your own LED grow lights by buying all the parts the cost per Watt is about a buck a watt if your buying Samsung or the QB 96 Elite . Good luck
Hi so if you right 28w per square foot and i have 9 square foot i would need only 252 watts of QB so would this be as good as 600w hps if so then should i get the 3000k or 3500k? EasyGrow DIY KIT 250w with Far RED - LedGrowShop
28 watts per square foot is the minimum amount of wattage needed per square foot if you are using certain boards . I would get the 3000 K spectrum . just so you know I use Cree Cob LED lights to that have the far red and photo red color spectrum . I bought the cree cobs first and they have a better budding color spectrum then the Amber Samsung LED's. My point is I like mixing in my Cree Cob led lights in with my Samsung QB . My next purchase will be Four QB 96 elites because it completes the budding color spectrum . Those lights you posted look ok to me . If you were in the USA I would talk you into some different boards but those look good just more money then what it would cost to make the lights I am talking about . Good luck
Ok thank you for all the help one final question what about 2 of this 160w but it got a holographic lighting group board. EasyGrow DIY KIT 160w with Far RED - LedGrowShop
Yes that is better color spectrum but remember you need a minimum of 28 watts per square foot . seems all new growers always try to grow to many plants in a small area . Normally it leads to the plants growing together and getting powdery mildew .. I grow 2 plants per 4x8 tent
As @Headhunterpipes said, 28 is around the minimum for budding. They can be vegged under even lower power. Mine were kicking ass under 17 w/sq ft while growing, only 25% draw on the drivers when I had them tucked in the corner of my tent. I run more boards than are really needed. Less draw needed, better spread. I only have to run my boards about 65% to get about 33 w/sq ft. 75% is about 37W/sq ft. If I crank them I am at 50w /sq ft, but then the heat is there. I am gonna cap it at 65% this round and see what happens. At 65% draw, my drivers and boards are both under 32-34°C range. And they're the hottest things in my room, so even if an exhaust fan craps out on me, which happened once earlier in this round, the hottest my room got then for about 6 hrs was 31.8°C. I measured my boards at that time with a therm gun......31.9°C. So with what I assumed was to be a disaster when I woke up and saw the temp on my thermometer, turned out to be a nice short 'warm spell' for the plants. They actually were really happy, looked great lol! I run 2 sets of 3000K boards with far red Epistar diodes built-in. Also using a set of 2700K's and my plants love them so far. I vegged them under these lights that are most definitely 'flower spectrum heavy', and they seem to be doing ok. July 8th, transplanted the peat pucks into 5 gallon bags, they took about 4-5 days before starting to grow again, running at about 20-25% draw at that time : Vegging under only about 17w/sq ft (25%, lights lowered) Just before flower, about a week and a half ago I think, running 50% : Last night, one week into flower running 65% range : I have dimmers that run off a remote, and makes it really easy to be precise with your percentages/draw. 3500K is better general spectrum, has more blue, but my plants seem to be happy with a red heavy room.
I just want to add that Niemi LED is a great company for high quality quantum boards, I own two of their lights and they are great. The also have the brand new RSPEC 130w and 260w available now, RSPEC GROW LIGHTS DEEP-RED OSRAM 660nm LED Grow Lights - Niemi LED
Nothing will beat Samsung lm301b/h diodes for efficiency but if you're concerned about cleaning the lights, and overall safety, have a look at the Mars SP-150 Mars SP 150 Best Indoor Led Grow Light - Mars Hydro for sale, buy Mars SP 150 Best Indoor Led Grow Light - Mars Hydro - Mars Hydro 2 of them would be 300w and will match the yeild of a 600w HPS. They state they're waterproof, I'm not sure how waterproof they are, I probably would've called them "splash-proof" but all the diodes are sealed in, no bare terminals or wires. I have the 250w version and my last two grows gave me just over 14 ounces each time. Previously my 600w HPS was giving me 16 ounces. So I'm sure that 2x Mars SP-150 (300watts) would beat the HPS, and give off way less heat. They are dimmable too so if you get the odd really hot day in the summer you can knock them down a few watts to compensate. Or just switch one off I guess. But you probably won't need to as they're very cool running Have a look here for my review of the Mars SP-250.... Mars SP-250 LED Review Also check out their Mars TSW-2000, that's a square 300w LED that uses the same diodes, I think it's a bit cheaper too Mars TSW 2000 Quantum Board Led Grow Light - Mars Hydro for sale, buy Mars TSW 2000 Quantum Board Led Grow Light - Mars Hydro - Mars Hydro
Idk if this is an option other led guys hop in if the 96s dont work like I think. Anyways for the dogs and cats they make a cover for the 96s that comes with the hlg 360 kit(not recommending this) that I think you can buy them as a replacement part. I would think 3 96s would work run a pair in parallel one the hlg-320h-54a and the single one on whatever, or just get the big driver that runs all three of them. Maxed out that would be 675w.
I sincerely hope you didnt go with the Easygrow brand? This is a cheap assemble and the lamp cant compete with any other led with a bit of quality.. Also FYI I would read on trustpilot the reviews of ledgrowshop before ordering anything from that store because no one else in the business has that shitty reviews...
