I have a problem with my new 150 watt hps. Its the pre-assembled kind from lowes. i don't know of any possible way to hang it from the top of my closet. I was hoping to be able to hook it to a chain and adjust as necessary, but there is no way I can attach the chain to my hps. Please reply if u think u can help me out .
very odd most HPS have some kind of hooking mechanism. Not sure how you can mount it, but, you can put your plant on and off boxes as neccesary to adjust the space you need between it and your HPS
i dont have a camera to post a pic, but it is a all in one kit (bulb,ballast,reflector). it is box shaped with three wires(green,black,white) coming through a short tube about two inces long. this is the only place on the light where i even see a possibility of mounting.
if it has a metal housing, you could always take it off and drill and tap holes to put hooks on it then reattach the housing and atatch a chain or rope to the hooks. just a thought you can get all you need for that (hooks, chain, drill and tap set) from a well stocked local hardware store. otherwise, you could devise some kind of hanger system that the light just sits on and isnt attached to.
Yeah those kinds should have a metal houseing, you could either drill holes like tokingbuffalo said or use some of the knock-outs to use hooks ( most of those types of lamps have knock-outs to mount)
