  1. alright so they have the 150w hps security lights at home depot are they good the way they are or do they have to be modified to certain specs? also about the mh do they have things like the security light that are already constructed?or do u have to buy everything seperately and put it together urself? and if so what do u need a bulb, ballast, and reflector?do they carry all this at home depot? thanks for any help...:smoking:

  2. Yea, basically all the home depot lights have to be wired to your ceiling. I dont know how to do all tat stuff so i just went onto ebay amd bought 2 1000w HPS ballast and bulb. Serch ebay, they'll have what your looking for for pretty cheap.:)

  3. I agree you are best advised to look for a light designed more for growing. That light at Home Depot is made to be hard-wired plus the ballast is built in to the light fixture, which will add unwanted heat in a grow area. Lastly, and most importantly, if you spend the money for a 150w light you will kick yourself later wishing you had gotten at least a 250w if not 400, 600, etc. With 150w you will be able to grow one really nice plant, maybe 2.

You want a light designed to be plugged into a socket (no wiring changes or splicing needed) and a remote ballast so you can keep that heat away. In addition to the sources mentioned also try htgsupply-dot-com.

  4. if you want to get hardcore, you can modify the 150 w hps security light as some stealth cab growers have done (rewiring to a plug), but if you plan on having more plants down the road than spend the extra and get a 400W HPS

  5. so could i take a power chord and splice it to the hps security light so that it will plug in the wall socket? would this blow anything? thanks for the help to all...:smoking:

  6. yes you could very well rewire the fixture but i strongly suggest visiting your local library and reading up on the matter or look online, research before doing this as this is electricity your dealing with
