Hi all: I just bought a pretty nice 400w setup and am wondering as to what is a solid 400w hps bulb to purchase, and MH as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I believe Philips makes a decent bulb...that's what I use...only a 250hps in a 4ft square space tho, so I get about 6000 lumens PSF in my setup. A lot of growers tout conversion bulbs, Hortilux/EYE bulbs, and other fancy items, but my standard one ran my through my 1st grow no problems whatsoever...besides not growing enough plants. I have no idea if the Hortilux requires a hortilux lamp, but I would assume not since it is a HPS bulb. Supposedly the Hortilux bulbs have a wider spectrum of colors, but last a little less longer. I will try one later on this year and make a full report on it. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance! -BudFanatic
