   I'm adding a 50W HPS for some supplemental lighting, I'm curious what people have for suggestions for hoods and ballasts to use the bulb in.
   
   Would I be better off building my own hood and using one of these ballast kits?

   I bought a ballast and ignitor for my 400W lamp from a lighting supplier. A lot cheaper than from a ripoff grow shop. Make sure you get the right lampholder as well, in ceramic not plastic, these things can get hot.
