If you had a room that was 10x18 what would you put into it? Don't worry about budget. Two 9x10 rooms? Soil or Hydro? What would you do if you could set it up exactly how you wanted? I need some ideas.
Where do I start....I would definitley go hydro/undercurrent. Here is a couple links to a website with some cool designs and pics, as well as a couple pics of my undercurrent system. I DIY a 9 bucket system for $500. Home : Current Culture Hydroponics, superior hydroponic systems. http://forum.grasscity.com/hydropon...iy-undercurrent-recirc-system-w-uniseals.html I have a shed that is just about 10x20. I have it divided in half with a framed in wall covered in reflective insulation. I built in a tarp zipper door, way easier to get in and out. In the front half I veg with a 9 bucket undercurrent system and two T5 lights. I have a shelf with a fogger cloner on top and a DIY ebbflow table underneath in the veg room. In the bloom room I run a 9 bucket undercurrent system on 38 inch centers between buckets. I use drop vertical lighting with 4 1000 Watt lights. A/C, heat when needed, intake, exaust. Res for bloom system is on the other side of the wall in the veg room to keep water cool. I can shoot you some more pics of the whole setup if you need. I have grown a million ways in this shed over the past 5 years (soil/hydro/smartpots/autopots/ebbflow/undercurrent/sea of green-horizantal lights with hoods) and the setup I have now is the best I have used yet. Exponential growth, hassle free, minimal work to fill res, check on ladies. Uniseals are the key to the undercurrent system. Stay in touch man, let me know what you plan on doing. Peace
Send me the pics! It sounds pretty sweet. I've been having a lot of trouble trying to decide what to do with the space (SCROG, SOG, soil, hydro...). I'm looking to maximize yield with a low stress system. The under current system you've got goin is pretty low stress it seems. Never heard of it before so its time to do some homework! Thanks for the reply man. Do you put airstones in each bucket or just the res?
The vertical lights combined with the undercurrent system will result in amazing yields. The plant in the middle of my system will probably yield at least a pound if all turn out right. I don't like to count my nugs before they hatch, but I have pulled down similar harvests off of an inferior system in individual DWC buckets. Heres some pics, you can also check out the link I sent you, it won't let me post the same pics more than once. I do run an airstone in each bucket, the controller bucket and the resivor. Also, the water being blasted back into the controller bucket by the pump creates tons of extra disolved oxygen. The current culture link has website has the "uniseals" for sale in the parts and accesories section. They make the whole system possible. Also one of the keys to keeping your water cool enough is keeping the pump outside of the controller bucket rather than in the water, which can warm your solution. I used 2" PVC pipe and fittings, 3 inch uniseals and a 3" hole saw to cut the holes in the 5 gallon buckets. I always run clones, no seeds. The "nutramist" fogger cloner is key. I go from the fogger to a DIY ebbflow table in Rockwool cubes. This allows the plants to veg out a while and get some roots pokin through the bottom of the 4x4 cubes before putting them in hydroton in 5 gal veg buckets in the recirc system in veg. I run two seperate systems in veg and bloom because I prefer to run a perpetual harvest cycle. I do not have mother plants, I just cut clones from the ladies in veg before they go into bloom. Let me know how I can help, I've been trying to find anyone out there in GC using this system or building a new one.
I'm leaning towards a UC system. Looks sweet. So do you move lights or plants when you're done with a harvest and its time for the next group to start flowering? Or do you use the same lights in both rooms?
I use T5s in veg and when the plants are ready, I just pull the net pot with the plant in it and move it to an empty bucket in the bloom room. I only move two plants into bloom every 3 weeks, and cut down two every 3 weeks. This way I don't have to wait 60 days inbetween harvests and am perpetual.
if i were putting something like this together id set it up in 2 rooms. 6x10 veg, 13x10 flower. in the veg room make a bench that runs almost the length of the room and line up 2 4' t5's. put all your nutes, ammendments, supplies under the bench, leave some room under or on the end for a few mothers and a cloning station. put 4 600's or 1k's in the flower room. id go dirt, but i like organic buds. i imagine doing 6 plants under each of the t5's vegging for a month before moving over. work yourself into a nice perpetual moving plants from veg to under 1 of the lights every 2 weeks or so. it'd be a pretty busy space, but could do over a pound a month.
