Just reading through the forums I read about peoples plants smelling so bad their neighbors can smell it. I've never grown but how well does a carbon filter work to get rid of the smell? If you're growing some really stinky bud for instance how far would the smell go once you have a carbon filter in place? Also how a comparison for the average marijuana strains that have a smell to them but aren't the really smelly skunks, how well does a system for those? I would want something in place where the smell would be pretty contained into a closet space, so I probably wouldn't go after the stinkiest stuff. But just hoping for input from people who have used the systems a few times for different strains
Basically, the Carbon grabs a hold of stinky things that go through it. It's a chemical bonding type deal that I know nothing about. It's your best option as far as odor control goes. If you get a good quality filter, and do it right, you won't be able to smell anything in the rest of your house. I grow in my basement, and you can't smell it upstairs. I run a carbon filter 24/7.
yea i have a silencer carbon filter, fucking love the thing. would recommend for anybody who is at all concerned about smell.
Carbon filters when properly connected to an appropriately sized fan completely eliminate smell, but do have their own 'carbon' smell (not a big deal at all and would never be mistaken for MJ). However, if your humidity gets too high, you might notice a little bit of a tinge of pot. That's bc water molecules are attaching to the carbon and hogging up space for dirty particles to attach. Just drop the humidity and its fine.
