  1. Im just curious how to tell the difference between indica and sativa.. pics would be great but a physical description is fine
i just wud like to know what kinda bud im buying
    thanks!

  2. Well Sativa's are generally more tall and lank(talking about the plant of course), while Indica's are shorter and bushier.

You can't really tell when you have only the bud though by physical appearance.

But when you smoke it, Sativa gives an energetic head high while Indica is more of a lazy body high.

The Purps, a heavy Indica blend

Physically, indicas are usually denser, "tighter" nuggets. It's hard to describe, but Indicas may look like someone litterally balled them up and compressed it down with their fist. They are darker in color sometimes, may be purple or other darker hues. Hard to describe the smell but in one word "stinky". "Smelly" and "skunky" can also apply sometimes. When smoked, they produce the slower "body high" as stoners call it. They tend to make you a little sleepier and hungerier. Music is enhanced for sure.

Look at the denseness of the Purps compared to the fluffiness of Sour Diesel.

    Sour Diesel, obviously.

Sativas are "lighter", "fluffier" in appearance. "Looser" buds. They tend to be lighter in color, but that's not always true. They can often smell like fruit or even straight up like citrus. Sour Diesel in particular can smell like lemons or lime very strongly. When you smoke a sativa strain, it's a "head-high". It feels faster and not as slow as an Indica high. You will rarely get sleepy after smoking a strain with a lot of sativa qualities.
They tend to make you feel more alert, almost. It's all kind of hard to describe.

Hope that helps. But you should know most strains out there are a blend of both sativa/indica. A bud may look like a indica, but smoke like a sativa, or vice-versa, though that's a little rare.

  4. Unless you're getting it straight from a grower, the bud you buy will have been compressed a little and manhandled enough so that you can't tell physically.

Only way is to guess by the high, but really you can't tell because a lot of bud is just a mix between the two.

You can only really tell by seeing the plant, sorry.

  5. While sativas tend to be energetic, some sativas and even pure landrace sativas have a somewhat narcotic high. They can make you unwilling to move, while your mind is usually speeding very fast. Sativas have a long flowering period, but the flowering time of a landrace sativa can be shortened with hybridization. The plants will still be mostly sativa in effect, but can be easier to cultivate indoors. Also, some sativas are very paranoia-inducing, while others are quite calming.
