How to store seeds?

  1. I just got my seeds in and I really don't want to plant them right now because of the cold weather. I'm reading that some seeds can't be kept in a refrigerator or freezer so what are some places that you guys could recommend? Do I need to have an air tight container? Thanks.

  2. You are not storing them for very long, so you don't need to be too careful. Storing them in their envelopes in a closet for a few months is no big deal.

If you are looking for long term storage, you need to store them in airtight containers in a cool, dry, dark place. 35mm Film canisters and mason jars work great.

I wouldn't recommend storing in the freezer, but I know people that store them on the bottom shelves of the fridge. Just make sure those containers are air tight. The fridge is a very arid place. If your container isn't air tight, you run the risk of your seeds drying out. Although this probably won't happen to you given the short duration of their stay.

    Good luck.
