How To Scrog Videos...

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by The Green Bastard, Dec 19, 2010.

  1. I posted this today as part of my normal op, but people are telling me that i should post it here for newbie Scroggers...

    wanna SCROG? here's a video.

    then you do this...

ask questions if you want. I've been scrogging for a while.

  2. Yes, thanks man. I had a bit of trouble visualizing tucking them back under the screen. Some things no matter how much I read I need to see it. That vid took care of that.

  3. whats your lamp? how much plants do you grow and what is your average yield? thanks for the answers :)

  4. + rep, my man!

    Thanks for your hard work!

    :hello::hello::hello::hello::hello:

  5. I use 400W HPS. I yield a minimum of 0.5 GPW.

  6. .... this doesnt show me how u pulled down ur branch to another spot etc etc...

  7. do you really need a video of how to pull a branch back down under the screen? Isnt it self explanatory?

  8. awesome man great videos. Very informative. Do you top at all?

  9. yes, i top at about the 5th leaf set on seedlings. I even top my clones.

  10. Im not sure i completely understand your question....

a screen should be placed about 9"-10" from the grow medium. You then train the branches completely under the screen. The screen itself needs to be supported. the plants dont hold it up.

no matter how you tuck the branches under the screen within days they will pop right back up and you will do it all over again. remember the plant will grow towards the light, regardless of where you put a branch.

  11. i guess the question was whether or not the distance from the screen to the plants depends on the size of the canopy

it would seem logical that a single plant scrog that covers 2'x2' would not need as much distance from the medium as a single plant scrog that covers 5'x3', but i guess that isn't the case!

i guess the inquiry is rather related to the physics of weight distribution on the limbs of the plants rather than the practical question of how much space is necessary to get underneath and train them. however, considering some of the drastic tie-down methods i have seen on the boards, whatever angles the limbs might be trained to will probably not matter in the grand scheme of things.

    thanks, GB, u rock!

  12. thanks for the video... 'bout to run scrog myself-gonna raise 8 girls in a dwc hydro with coco coir substrate for medium in net cups with dutch master gold nute program. 5x5x7 with 1000w mh for veg and 1000w psmh 3-stage flower bulbs for bloom... love the scrog arrangement! wish me luck!

  13. Well when u pull the branch to another spot do u pull up the middle branches as well or?

  14. its as simple as this... anything that pops up through the screen, you take that branch and pull it back under the screen. you are only worried about what is above the screen. once you pull and start training them below the net, they wont move. if its above the screen and big enough to tuck under another square, then thats what you do.

  15. Actually, yes, I think this would be helpful...as I pull the branch back down, am I trying to keep a node under each square of the screen? Do you squeeze/snap the stem to get it back down, or do you prefer to just bend and tie it?

To see someone do it, really, makes a big difference...

  16. This isnt rocket science. The idea is to keep the plant below the screen. It doesnt matter how you do it. You can bend it, supercrop it, pull it under with your fingers.... It does not matter. Your end goal is an even canopy. There is no tying required. The screen does everything for you.

  17. Thanks for the videos man! Do you keep training your plants all the way through flowering as well? Or is there a time during flowering that you stop training?

  18. now what about waiting until the leaders are 4-6 inches above the screen(depending on hole size) and then weaving them through the screen. giving this kind of snaking effect. about to try my first scrog and that was my selected method. wanted to have a wide range of techniques going to try and find what works best

  19. You train the screen for 3-4 weeks into flowering. at that point the plants stop growing upward and focus their energy on producing bud.

I dont like weaving through my screen. Its just unnecessary IMO. It can be done, and will produce the same results. By weaving large leader shoots, you risk snapping them off as you go over and under.
