How to quit smoking

Discussion in 'Cannabis Consumption Q&A & Tips' started by Gardenmaster, Aug 31, 2012.

  1. So I have a "friend" that is thinking about quitting smoking bud. It just makes sense financially, plus a tbreak is just in order.

We all know that there isn't a physical dependence, but anyone that smokes seriously and says there isn't a psychological addiction is only lying to themselves.

This friend smokes about a half ounce to an ounce a week of good bud usually mixed with edibles and hash laced joints, and has been smoking at this level for over ten years (not a day in there with a break).

This friend is just looking for a tbreak, not quitting forever. Do you think cold turkey would be the best way, or should he gradually taper off? Any tips that might make it easier?

  2. cold turkey man, otherwise you are not doing much for your tolerance.

  3. Cold turkey, easiest, fastest and most efficient way ;)

  4. I went cold turkey when I had a pre screen for my last job, I smoked every day for the last 3 yrs and made edibles whenever I could.

It sucked for the first month, but I got over it pretty fast. With your friend 10yrs on quality herb maybe tapering off would be better for him. Since the pre screen I've cut down on my smoking a lot, I used to go through an ounce every two weeks, now it takes me a month...I always have weed around which is awesome :smoke:

Good luck to your friend, at least he's not quitting for good :bongin:

  5. Cold turkey. The key is for him to actually want to take a break. You can't quit and constantly have "I want to smoke" running through your head. It will drive you crazy. If he wants to take a break he really has to want it.

  6. Get a vaporizer! Nows the time for our soldiers to make personal sacrifices.

Fear not brothers and sisters! We shall win this war which will drive prices down and the fact that we enjoy a plant will no longer affect our professional lives.

  7. GOT DAMN!!!!!!!!

  8. Just cold turkey quickest, and easiest way the tbreak will be worth it

  9. dont have weed around iff you trying to quit, atleast for me- if i have weed im smoking every last crumb of that today haha

  10. Your "friend" is one lucky fuck. 10 years of smoking this way with not 1 single day of taking a break. Spoiled.
Anywho- Taper down to 1-2 hits in morning, 2-3 hits in afternoon, and 3-5 hits at night.
    Then down to 1 hit/morning, 2 hits/afternoon, 2-3 hits/night
Then 1 in morning 1-2 hours after waking up, then a couple to few hits at night.
Then get to point where u only smoke at night to help sleep, then to point where u dont need it.
Cold turkey is just bullshit. Man.

Edit: Wait at least 1 hour, try for 2, before smoking after waking up, cuz taking a hit right when u wake up is making it routine or 'habitual', kinda like cig smokers they get into habit of lighting up right after waking up, and right after meals, etc then everyday when wake up or after eating, their first thought is "cigarette".

Well what i did 4 weeks before i planned my t break i only smoked at night and then i quit cold turkey and it made it easier im on month 3 of my break and smoking this weekend cant wait to get BAKED and yes there is a psychological addiction and i had alot of withdrawals couldnt sleep, sweating at night, headaces everyday for a month and more that i forget idk why people say there isnt

  12. Cold turkey, first few days are hard, but then after that, its fine

  13. First few days are really hard, once you get past the 1st week your REALLY bad cravings go away. After the first month you will not even have weed in your mind, you probably won't even remember what being high feels like.

Use melatonin to get to sleep, this is a must, it's the best for T-break sleep.

Also having weed in the house when I tbreak always helps me but everybody's different. I'm have fairly good self control but if you aren't disciplined enough to quit cold turkey without saying "eh what's 1 joint gonna do?" then don't keep it around you.

Keep your goal in mind, set a date when you will break the break.

Stick with your goal too, once it's set it's set in stone.

    Good luck!

  14. Cold turkey. You'll be craving for about 3 days, but once you're past that initial shock to the system of not smoking you're home free.

  16. About to give something a whirl but just bought a 7mm left coast shower head. Ugh.

  17. Assuming he averaged out 3/4 oz per week..
That's ~40 ounces a year... or 400 ounces over that decade.
In other words... 25lbs of the goodness gone.
    :D

My advice? Take a month T-break and get it out of your system (might as well try and stay healthy during the time too while you're at it). Then you'll have a fresh tolerance for the most part, just have to keep it low an' don't toke in excess often.
    :bongin:

  18. Just go cold turkey, when you want to smoke, don't. Just don't do it. A little willpower will do wonders :)
