my soil is at about 7.8 right now. i would like to bring it down to at least a 7, perfer 6.5. I'm also broke so any fast, cheap, and easy to come by method would be greatly appreciated.
i heard vinegar? i would do a little more research but im almost positive i read that somewhere but ya know....
I copied this from my computer copy of the cannabis grow bible: pH - bringing back to neutral from Alkaline: If the pH of your soil is too alkaline then you may want to bring it back to a natural 7. To correct this you need to make your soil more acidic. Here is a list of ingredients that can each be used to return your plants PH to 7. -Cottonseed meal -Lemon peels -Ground coffee -Some Fertilizers also are very acidic and can bring the pH down to 7. When using this method always moderately apply the substance and check the pH. Over time you will know what measures to use. This is best left up to the grower as he/she will know how big their pot is and how much should be added. Experiment a bit and learn as you go along. pH - bringing back to neutral from acidic: If the pH of your soil is too acidic then you may want to bring it back to a natural 7. What you need is Lime. Lime can be bought in small containers from any grow shops. Just simply add some lime to your soil the next time you water your plant. Only add small amounts each time and then the next day use the pH meter to study the effects. They know this by trial and error. This is one thing about cannabis growing. The best cannabis growers grow good cannabis because they have made many mistakes in the past. If you want to bring it down, do the first one.
Hey - I use coffee grounds.... I save the used coffee grounds from my drip coffee maker and add them to the soil. I put about 2 cups of grounds on the surface of the soil and water thru them. It has worked for me whenever my ph is higher than I want it..... Try it! Kisses - Hott
unfortunately i'm chinese, so theres only tea in this house, lol. I love coffee personally, but i dont even think theres a coffee maker in this house. So coffee grounds might be a problem, i head vinger too, and then heard lemon juice does a more effective job. if anyone could tell me about how much to use per liter of water, that would be great. thanks!
Add some to the water can and check the PH of the water before you apply it to the plants. I would think to make it a little lower than you want the soil to be than check it a few days later and see where it's at. Repeat if needed.
just got back from my spot, i added some lemon juice to my water before i watered. i'll tell you guys the final results next time i go.
