As the gc community consists of self-accountable adults... I ask to you to share the decisions and indecisions you have made to bring you to this stage in your life. Disregarding fatalism and our linear perception of reality, what outside factors (societal, familial, economical, etc.) do you think influenced your decisions? Have they helped or hampered? Few, if any, people are satisfied with all the decisions they make over the course of their life. What advice would you give to others in learning to live with the choices they make? Is it better to walk a path than die standing at the crossroads?
Well one big decision I have made is to study law. My dad suggested I do so..I don't even like it or have a knack for it. I'd rather play my bass or read poetry and listen to Opeth and Dream Theater...but I need money and I need to stand on my own feet..so I went with it. I used to be a science freak before and I was certain I'd go on to do scientific research, but I've ended up doing something completely different. i don't know how this will turn out for me but all I can do is hope for the best. I'd say take a path, experience that side of life and dont waste time. Then go back to the crossroads again, if possible - that time you will have one path less to choose.
There is no choice but to live with your decisions, each shapes the person you are tomorrow. Choose the path of greatest resistance, never look back.
Most of the decisions I've made since the age of 17 are ones I wish I had chosen to do the opposite but theres no changing them now, although most the decisions I made from that time until now, can be changed now but I continue to decide whats worst for me. Some of those bad decisions are etched in stone now and it will take quite some time before they are forgiven,
You either live with your decisions, or you don't. If you don't, then it will be the last decision you make... ever... if you catch my drift.
I think it was sleepy who has it in his sig, but its a really marvelous saying/quote. Found it - 1. Whoever comes are the right people 2. Whatever happens is the only thing that could have 3. Whenever it starts is the right time 4. When it's over, it's over The only thing I have to add is this - Whatever decision you choose is acceptable. You may wonder what could of happened if you didn't take that route but if you could go back and change that route to find out what the other one is you'd simply be back at square one, yet again wondering what the other decision/route would of unveiled. So be happy with what you've chosen.
As simple as this message is it is things like this that help me live day to day. +rep for giving me a good feeling
