How to grow big aloe plant

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by mclover, Mar 11, 2016.

  1. I have a small aloe plant I have had for awhile and now want to grow it into a huge plant. I have it in straight compost and it hasn't been growing much. The edges of the aloe leaves are curled. Its in a little 6 inch pot right now, I want to put it in a 3 or 5 gallon bucket and fill it up with a good soil mix. Any suggestions on brand of soil and tips on how to make them grow big and fast?

  2. Aloe is a succulent. They like sandy soils with great drainage. They don't like being in a saturated medium.

  3. I was thinking just grab a bag of soil made for cactuses. But if theres any tricks that will help them grow faster I want to do it. Maybe adding a layer of rocks for drainage or adding sand to the cactus mix.

  4. Cactus and succulent mixes will be the way to go.

  5. Hey mclover,

If you want to use the aloe for its virtues, make sure to put in in a nice organic cactus soil. If you have some chemical stuff in there it won't be as good!

    Cheers
