How to grind weed?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by mos_def, Apr 17, 2010.

  1. ".5g-1g of very finely ground herb [anything from schwag to dank, i suggest not using the dankest you have. Make sure it is almost dust like consistency. I used high mids for these]"

how can i do this with items around the house/kitchen?

  2. Put the weed in a shot glass and cut it up with scissors.

  3. what he said ^^ or get a plastic grinder their usually like 4-5$ or a good metal one is like 10-20$ or u can use a coffee grinder if you have one of those, but make sure to wash it out after :p

  4. Scissors won't get the consistency you want.

Try using a coffee grinder. What are you grinding for?

  5. scissors work well actually u just gotta work at it for a bit.

  6. Firecrackers

  7. Not for me, and they crush the trichomes. I've tried using scissors before and just ended up using my hands.

Yeah for firecrackers you want it as fine as possible.

  8. you used your hands to make it dust like consistency?
idk i would try that but i figured some of the dust would get stuck on my hands and wasted.

  9. Yeah if you're dealing with small amounts and you're hung up on wasting as little as possible, hands aren't the way to go. Invest in a grinder.

Yeah I can grind really fine with my hands. When I first made firecrackers I used a pestle and mortar but I have a grinder now, which I rarely use.

I just use my hands, I like the ritual of grinding up my bud by hand. The smell, touch, the whole process.

  10. Yeah i feel you, i like just touching the weed and smelling my hands and stuff :D
someone mentioned theres like $5 plastic grinders but what are those called, could i get them at walmart or something? i cant really afford anything real nice, and id have no place to hide it anyways

  11. He's talking about a cheap grinder. If you get a grinder you might aswell invest in a better one, its worth it.

  12. Grinders aren't that large, lol. You can easily hide one if you live with the 'rents still.

If you think you're going to use the grinder often, buy a 4 piece one. But if it's just for this then go with something cheap.

  13. has anyone emptied one of these [IMG]
and grinded their weed with it? hmm..

  14. I've thought about it, lemme know if it works lol

  15. just use your hands if you cant find anything around the house to help you out, personally i like to split up my weed using my fingers.

  16. For good dank, scissors work excellent.
For mids/beasters, either buy a small grinder or use a coffee grinder. Or your hands.

  17. What about a knife?

Would that work? Like just chop it alot

  18. if you want to sit there for an hour yea sure

it might not be hella fine tho

  19. damnit... I lost my grinder not too long ago and haven't gotten around to buying a new one. Just spent all my money on a QP of dank with some buddies too.

    Bummer, scissors and fingers then?

  20. Hey Guys,

If you want to get that powder-like consistency and don't have a grinder or your grinder doesn't get it fine enough, try using a Microplane or a small cheese grater. That is what I use when I'm prepping edibles and joints. For edibles , using a microplane ( or lemon zester ) allows the weed to dissolve in the oil I am cooking with. It will give you a kief-like consistency. The only thing is be careful with your fingers, or you'll grind them too. It works great with loud, or brick mid and is an "outside the box" approach at grinding. In case you haven't purchased a 4 piece Aluminum grinder yet. . . and if you haven't. You should. Let me know if you try it and if it works for you.

    Thanks
