I've had two successful grows in the past while living in an apartment. I used 1000watt hps, ocean forest soil mixed with cheap bags of topsoil, and fox farms nutes. On my first grow of about 12 or 13 plants I got about 22 ozs. With the second grow of 9 plants I got about the same amount. I was happy with the results except I had tall plants with weak stems. I induced flowering at 16-20 inches and the plants ended up about 5 feet tall. I kept the light as close as possible the entire time but they still stretched pretty good. Near the end I literally had a string on every branch to hold it up. In this particular space height was not an issue but now I am in a house and due to the angle of the ceiling in this new space and the thickness of the light hood a five foot plant would be touching the underside of the light. I finally got my central air installed in the place so I am ready to set up my grow space and sprout some seeds. I will only be growing about 6 this time but I still want to get at least 20 or so ozs while keeping the height down. So to the growers out there who use a similar setup what do you do to get those low and dense plants? I plan on trying to tie down the top before inducing flowering. I also have this theory that maybe giving too much water can cause the stretching and weak stems. Whatchyou think?
I would suggest indica's for the shortness obviously. I used to use a 1000 watter but I had to keep it up high and my plants always stretched. When I went to three 400 watt lights in my flower room, I had the ability to drop the hoods down on the plants and keep em small and bushy.
Lsting, super cropping, or scrog....I'm currently doing the first two to my critiacal super silver haze and is working great. Its 70/30% sativa indica and is a giant Bush with many tops only about a foot tall. Great looking buds btw bro props
Thanks man. I'm not sure what strain it was but definitely mostly sativa. Maybe that's the key is get indica and train them a little. So you are already flowering and only a foot tall? How tall do you think your plants were if you would have stretched them out at the point in time right before you switched the light cycle?
Nice pics, yea it looks like lst and topping is not an issue, they look really nice. I throw mine in the flower chamber only after I top at least three times, and when they get to about 12-14 inches high.
Look on additude seed bank for a 100% indica strain..something like california hashplant..its very short with Hugh fat colas..and flowers very quick BigC
look for anything kush (except OG which is really sativa) and try bushdocter it is supposed to stop stretch

as others have said, grow an indica dominant strain. I am growing several indica plants under a 1000w mh and they are staying very squat and bushy. I have vegged them for 6 weeks now and they are about 8 inches tall by 8 inches wide. Definitely go indica, and as you know, keep the lights as close as possible.
