I've read somewhere on here that there is something to dissolve old root balls . i want to reuse my coco in my next grow. anyone know what this is called? thanks!
I'm not sure if it is necessary to do. I've been reusing coco for years now and all I do is shake out the rootball getting like 70% of the roots out of the coco, flush it, and reuse. What remaining fine root hairs that are left aren't a big deal, especially if you're using something like hydroguard which breaks down old dead roots anyways.
maybe thats what it was. someone mentioned there was some enzyme that you add to the coco that dissolved all the small roots. wish i had wrote it down. if i have to ill just shake them out in a big tote. they were in 5gal smart pots so its going to be a chore!
Fungus gnats love old decaying roots so I never reuse mine. It's so cheap unless you have a huge grow op I prefer to buy new. I know that doesn't help, I'm more or less posting to see the responses that follow.
