How to get resin turd out of perc?

put alcohol in it and let it sit so its just soaking the turd. after and hour or so you should be able to wash it out with hot water. ive had to do this in extreme cases: get a metal coat hanger or wire and bend it around so you can navigate it through your piece and push that lil turd out. -hope this helps, happy smoking

 

I use hot water just before the alcohol salt thing. It loosens up the resin. I'd be careful if you have arm percs though.

 

isopropyl then blow as hard as you can through it to push it out

 

Use the highest % alcohol you can find! I prefer using Everclear.

 

Try soaking it with simple green. You might need to plug the joint with a joint stopper or cork stop and pour it in from the top till you fill the perc.

But seriously -- pipecleaners, dude. Pipecleaners and ISO. Hot water is dangerous with smaller glass pieces like percs, just like someone else said... If you're not careful (or even sometimes if you are!) it can expand and crack, which will either make the piece unusable or else it'll just look hella ugly FOREVER.

So yeah. Nix the water. And pick up some pipecleaners! They're like $1 at most craft stores, and I'll bet Target or Walmart probably sells them too.

 

i have the same problem, i have no alcohol, but i tried nailpolish remover, and i also boiled water and poured it through the perc and it loosened it all up but now i have turds floating aroun my perc :/

Get yourself an ash catcher if you got mad percs its common sense.

 

You probably want a carbon filter if you have multiple percs. With the added drag from the percs you would probably want to avoid more drag from an a/c. Carbon filters catch the ash and actually remove some impurities from the smoke so your piece will resin up much slower than with an ashcatcher.

 

Acetone. Other than being flammable, acetone is very safe and will vaporize at room temperature very cleanly so you wont get any residue in your piece. It's also a better solvent than isopropyl alcohol.

 

Clean your bong out more often, at least rinse it out once a day with a little acetone, that stuff removes some of the gnarliest shit man can make.

Ever work with fiberglass resin? Paint? Wood Stain? Epoxy?

Just do it in a ventilated area with no spark or flames, same thing goes for alcohol.

But yeah, you really do need to clean those things out daily, at least 4 times a week if you smoke heavy everyday.
