How to dose glycerin tincture?

    So I'm going to be making some tincture soon, but I have a few questions.
     
    First, if I wanted to help the taste/smell could I use some vanilla extract or something?
     
    Secondly, if I use a 1/4 and have use 3ml per 1g would that make really potent tincture or would it be better to use greater volume so it'll cook better/easier and just have to take more drops.
    I'd imagine it would need to cover the bud at least.
