How to approach this space with this equipment

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Chaneux, Jul 4, 2023.

  1. Hey, thanks for hearing a newb out. So, a couple years back I was given some equipment, and now I'm finally in a place I can use it. Been lurking the threads for a while, but I made an account today to start asking questions so I can learn in the context of a better understanding of my situation. I'm not sure how much of the equipment is applicable to my little closet, and I'm hoping for a bit of direction to best use what I've got.

I'll include some photos of what I've got. The room itself is 65x31x96in with a 11.75x31x39.5 air return in one end. The top of the air return is flat and stable. Usable surface for sure. There's a pic of a sketch of the room too. Thanks.

  3. the room will be suitable for 3 plants none of the equipment will be of any use maybe the 3 led lights for vegging thats about it the 1,000 watt bulbs would get way too hot and you dont have the fixtures or do you? is this all the stuff you have in the pictures?

  4. R U on an outside wall for an air intake & vent thru the ceiling? electric outlets in the closet? A good place for a couple mother plants, clones, seedlings? A tent may actually be easier & a better fit for you. & I AM NOT a tent guy. Good luck. :passing-joint:

There's this 6 in enclosed/ventable tube fixture, a couple of wing reflectors with bulbs and cords, and a little 2ft t5. But yeah, that's it for fixtures. Screenshot_20230704_122550_Drive.jpg

The closet is centered in the house with no exterior walls, but I'm an experienced carpenter. The construction portion of whatever I do is within my skill set. So outlets, vents, etc are just limited by what the room can do. What you got in mind?

  7. Best for a veg area (no odor indoors) for mothers, seedlings, clones. For flowering you have room for 3? plants to completion depending on size. No room for a veg & a flower area so maybe run auto's? what R your plans for watering? A floor drain is nice for a sloppy grower. With carpentry skills i'd look hard for a 2'd room to grow, maybe flower outside? Just spitballin.

I had my eye on doing a RDWC. I'm thinking to pull the carpet, fabricate a floor pan, and install a simple emergency drain. I figured it'd be both veg and flower in there. Outside is not an option where I live. It's mostly to cut the smoking bill and to have fun doing it, so I don't have to grow a ton.

thats about the same as mine. 15 sqft with 16sqft of light, migrow array 4x2 on counterweights
with 1x central bathroom fan 24/7 and 1x extra on stand by, on an inkbird ready to trigger past 35c, and 2 small 16" desk fans in each left corners, 24/7, tho all the fans were for an hps, the leds don't need so much, been like this for many years, currently thinking of installing a table to raise the floor to waist height as I age ....lol
standrd run is 27 autos in 10 liter grow bags, or 15x15 liter

  10. New guy question, but to confirm, that's to say you have 27 autoflowering plants in 10 liter bags in that space?

  11. crammed in 15 sqft, my excuse I've been doing it a long time,
but I also play Mozart 24/7 I do weird shit too

    man I hate Mozart

  12. Haha that is some weird shit. If you don't mind me asking, what is your strain and yield on that?

Sent from my SM-G996U using Grasscity Forum mobile app

I grew 2-3 grows with veg & flower in the same 1/2 bathroom at the same time. Yes it sped things up but was a royal PIA to cover up the 18 hr photo's when the adults were in flower. Now it's still photo's but just let them go from veg to flower in the same space 1 after the other. If you flower indoors there will be odor, a heavenly odor if all goes well. ;) :Love-Plant: If you had an extra bedroom sized area then U could probly use most of that stuff.

  15. On the topic of odors, the only equipment that I was given that I didn't put up a pic of was two giant charcoal filters. Both over 3 feet long. One 13" diameter and the other 16". I don't know how much of a space you could keep smelling fresh with them, but it's way more than what I need. Do you think I could still use one, and it just last a long ass time? If so, maybe I could put the filter itself in the attic and route the air through the ceiling to have the huge thing out of the way? They also weigh a ton. If I did, could that fan I have push the air enough? (Fan below in pic.)

  16. Who cares what your attic smells like? Yes it would filter the crap out of a closet. Go big or go home. If the vent has a long run, & if needed an inline fan above & below should work well. :love-m3j:

  17. I guess I just don't know how much to expect it to smell other than "a lot", ya know? This has to be stealth, and I live in a dense, nice neighborhood. Definitely don't want company smelling it, or worse, neighbors.

  18. Since you have 2 filters if size permits U could have a filter in the closet & attic, doubt you would need both tho.

  19. i live in a tight apartment with no filters and the smell is not an issue only in late flower and with big plants does the smell become an issue

  20. dont get ahead of yourself with veg and flower just start some seeds and get the ball rolling most people have trouble even getting them going you can veg under the t5 until you decide if this is for you or not maybe try autoflowers i never have but they are easier research the plants with the easiest grow verse yield
