I am planning a grow in my walk in closet. my goal is a sea of green. My plan it to build a cabinet. 22" deep, 60" wide, 48" tall. I'm looking at getting a carbon filter that does 200 cfm. Will separating it in to two sections work? the sections would be 60" wide and 24" tall. I'm not sure if 24" is tall enough for the lights/hydro setup/carbon filter and the plants. I plan on using those energy saving bulbs so that i can have them close to the plants the lights would be mounted on pvc pipeing. Then i would hang the light fixture using thin metal chains. I also don't know how many watts i want to do. I'm not sure how big the plants will be. I also don't know what i am going to do for light traps at the bottom of the cabinet for passive air intake. I was thinking of running my 4" duct fan into an 8" converter and lightly filling the 8" partw with something to muffle noise. I was thinking of using that cotton quilters use in their quilts to insulate them. or possibly a pre filter for carbon filters. This sound like a good idea? I am pretty sure i will have to muffle the noise. I want to do something like white widow or green crack. can anyone close a few of the gaps i have?
not sure how to answer the OG ? cause you have some missing info, light wattage, nutrients, etc. As far as your ventilation goes make sure you match up the proper fan with the proper filter cfm. Also those little store bought cfl's are handy but you should check into a 150 watt Hps system from sunlightsupply.com or otherwise. They produce much more lumens than the little cfl's and consume very little power. You can also purchase a MH conversion bulb for it. They are compact and dont produce a lot of heat. Also T5 CFL from Feliz are awesome!! I am using both they'll be closer to the lights starting monday
If you are going to split that space into veg and flower chambers, don't split the height. You could allocate 22x48 for a flower chamber and a small 22x12 veg chamber (you won't need the height in the veg chamber, but you won't want to take it away from the flower chamber either). You won't need a lot of room for veg if you're doing a sog, you will be wanting to put the clones/sprouts into the flower chamber pretty young and small.
