I have finally decided to start a small grow of two or three plants. The only problem is I am not sure how to format my setup. Stealth is not much of an issue since my Mom and I smoke occasionally. My closet is 3x5x8 ft and I was wondering how many plants I should grow, what should I buy and another thing I am not to sure on is how to ventilate, could I just open the door once or twice a day?
Hey thomas, welcome to GC! You are going to want to spend some time reading and doing some research my friend. Check out the stickies-they are the first threads at the top of the forums. Most of us (those having successful grows) spent a lot of time (months even) reading and researching before we ever popped a seed. You have to have ventilation, can't just open the door a couple times a day. Once again, spending some time reading is the best way to get started and get an idea of what you need. You can order seeds from a seed bank. I like the attitude. You can send them a money order so it won't show up on your cc, and they have stealth shipping. Google the attitude seed bank and check it out. Happy gardening!
man, 3x5x8, lucky my closet is only like 2.5lx3wx9h(less than 6h with the shelf in there) and my plant is getting too big. I'd stick with 1 though, if you can leave your door open all day its recommended, unless you can cut a vent hole in the wall or door.

It will get too hot, especially in an enclosed space, and especially with a built-in ballast. You've got to have good ventilation. And you will need an actual carbon filter for odor control, an air purifier won't work.

That way sounds like a great recipe for a fire in the closet lmao my plan b was to buy a tall clothing dresser storage thing and have my union electrician friends do the wiring and all that for the intake an outtake fans, then add a air filter to the back of that and put a carbon sheet in it For Oder, then attach the lights so there hanging from the top shelf shining on my babies. I'm using hydroponics for my grow seeing how I Ben researching mostly about hydro grows. I'm goin to put a air pump in the cabinet as well. The res will have airstonez in it and also light proof the res and add a time outlet for the light cycle when I'm not home or bizzy . An I feel more safe with it being disguised as a dresser or cabinet instead of having to move my hole setup and having to be able to move it when company comes over or inspections and etc etc. what do u think about how I want to set it up and all that ... Thx. The black guy lol
You are spot on about having a trained electrician do the wiring. That alone puts you ahead of the curve (most people don't think things through very well). I don't know how many plants you plan on having in the chest, but I highly doubt that a fan with a carbon sheet will be enough for odor control. You need an actual carbon scrubber with an inline fan. Don't underdo your odor control-then you'll end up with a bunch of flowering plants and no way to control the odor and you'll really have a problem. I keep my vegging girls and mother plants in a dresser. What type of light are you planning on using? Just make sure that you have plenty of height. I don't know a thing about hydro. Happy gardening!

I'm going to look on eBay or amazon and have my boy hook it up just can't wait to get started

So cfls are good for now for my first grow
You can make a closet work. You could drill a hole for an exhaust fan at the top and a small hole at the bottom for intake. The smell though will become an issue. If you have clothes in there forget about it. They will stink so bad. You'd probably empty it though right. You could leave the door open a crack but your slide finitely gonna want a fan blowing on the plant to strengthen the stem. I'd use a four hundred hps in there and grow some nice nuggets

My landlord knows I smoke bud a lot he told me other ppl smoke in the building before I even rented it lol and my apt is alone at the start of the hall every other tenants not even close except the one across from me who happens to smoke more then me too lol My friend said I don't need ventilation if I use a 250 metal hilade light an to just add fans he says there's ways around it he grew some masters to and has mad pics he showed me by everyone saying ventilation is a must
