How Should I Clean My Double Percolator (Honey + Tree)

Percs are a bi*ch to clean. But yeah alcohol and salt. You can always boil it too. Put it in a deep pot, for like a turkey or something. Then just let that thing boil itself clean.

You could always use acetone (like in nail varnish remover) but wash it out really well after and let it dry for at least half a day (to be sure). You don't want to inhale acetone..
 

 
I've heard boiling can weaken the glass, especially if it's thin glass. So maybe not great for the tree perc.

 

Really? Hmm. I would think if you were to do a drastic temperture change it would weaken. But I could be wrong.

 

You can always break your bong, clean the perc and then re-glue your bong. Good luck!

 

Dude just invest in some cleaning solution designed to clean bongs. Rubbing alcohol and salt works but in my experience spending the extra dollar on something made for cleaning bongs works best. Sick piece by the way dawg. 

 

My experience has actually been the opposite. I've tried a couple pipe cleaner solutions from smoke shops and i've always felt like I paid way more than it was worth. When I used them I got about the same results as I would with 91% isopropyl with salt, except it would have a scented finish. To each his own though.
OP one thing i've used that cleaned gunk off percs pretty good was simple green. I filled up the perc chamber and let it sit overnight, then rinsed it out and did a quick rinse with 91% iso and salt. Resin was pretty built up around the percs though, worse than yours is.

 

the trick with percs and keeping them clean is just to not let the get dirty. You need to clean often with alcohol and salt. It will get everything off, but not if there's a thick layer built up.

 

Yeah, you gotta clean them pretty regularly. I was cleaning my pieces weekly when I was smoking heavily, sometimes even more. And yeah, the head shop pipe and bong cleaners are overpriced but from my experience they worked quite well. It's been over a year though, and alcohol and weed have dulled my memory, but I remember them working better than rock salt and rubbing alcohol. 

 

That almost looks like claim on the top, you must have some nice percs

 

If you search for the 91% (or even 99%) ISO and some rock salt, it'll be pretty easy to clean. Most grocery stores only sell the 70% ISO, and the difference between 70 and 91 is remarkable. The latter destroys resin like there's no tomorrow
