The weight of my plant and 5 gallon/19 liters pot when soil is dry is 8.7kg. Plant image is attached. The method I use to water my plant so far, I am not sure if I am doing the right thing. I am just hoping it will not harm the plant. So far it has killed the lower branches and leaves because I left it almost bone dry too long, thinking leaving it dry will encourage the roots to grow and stretch further. How much water would you pour in now when it's dry? How will you know when to water next? How much water would you pour in next?
if that plant is 75 days old you are wasting your time trying to grow in my opinion ! if you are in soil with no perlite i would feed a half gallon every 3 days or so how old is the plant really? what kind of soil, light, etc?
if that plant is 75 days old you are wasting your time trying to grow in my opinion. >>Then do what next? Throw it away? 75 days. Potting mix60%+perlite20%+worm casting20%. 100 watts Led light.
That soil mix will not allow for proper drainage. Not enough perlite. Using organic soil/nutrients you want to add enough water to saturate the medium but not so much as to where there is runoff.
Noted. Then how much perlite is right? add enough water to saturate the medium >>How to know the medium is saturated?
40% perlite works well. Add water in small amounts, wait a minute or 2 before adding more, keep doing that until you just barely start to see water coming out the bottom (you don't want a lot).
okay. Add water in small amounts, wait a minute or 2 before adding more, keep doing that until you just barely start to see water coming out the bottom (you don't want a lot). >>I can still do this with 20% perlite? How much water you think I need to add before barely start to see water coming out the bottom, estimate?
i wish you the best of luck everyone has to start somewhere! Lighting is Very important think of it as food for the plant if you starve her for light she will not produce much saying that spending over 75 days vegging a plant wastes energy and time usually by day 60 at the latest they are ready to flip to flower just lift the pot when it feels light give enough until it runs out then wait until it is light again also move your 100 watt closer like 12 inches from the top IMO then think about switching to a 12/12 schedule later this month
Thank you dude. It's 9 inches from the top now. Plant top center gets about 1200ppfd. No light burn. All good.
If I give 600 to the top center canopy, the top sides get 200-300 and few inches below the top drops to 100-200.
5 gallon pot 3/4 of a gallon of water tom1 gallon but that plant is small you are severely underwatering that plant.
600 in center and 200-300 on the side is just fine in vedge! 1200 not! 1200 in the center would be acceptable in flowering.
You want to water down to the bottom of the pot so roots will have water. you don’t want it to be completely be dry where you are losing part of the plant.
