I'm in a non MMJ state and was just wondering how much trouble I would get in for growing weed? I live in SC, and I've looked it up the state laws on the norml website. It says anything less than 100 plants could be between 2-20 years of prison. Now I don't know if this really applies to me. I'm growing 5 plants for personal use, but can someone actually go to prison for growing a small amount of plants like this? I guess pretty much what I'm asking is what is the average amount of trouble if someone gets caught with 5 plants and its the first offence of this kind. I've tried looking up different cases of being caught on google. The only cases that come up are the major busts though, over 100 plants, so i couldnt base anything off that. If someone could help me answer this question I'd appreciate it.

Yea I realize people usually get caught for either telling people or selling it, neither of which I plan on doing of course. This will be strictly for personal use. I just want to know if small growers usually go to prison or just a big fine/probation if caught for the first time.
There are many factors that effect your sentencing with any crime committed. The police work, your arrest, the judge, your criminal background, and even little things like your attitude and presentation at court sometimes can sway your prosecutors. So yeah, that's like asking how much your plants will yield. Too many factors to give a straight answer. Just don't get caught, my man!
Assume the worst, because if you try that nonsense of "oh, I didn't think I'd get in much trouble", you'll likely do a year or two. If that risk is acceptable, then have at it.
did a year for possession of mushrooms. only an 1/8! Dont fuck around with the law. They answer to NOONE! i know here in illinois 4 plants is a misdemeanor, while 5 or more becomes felony.. with 25-30 plants at a time, im past that fine line, but far from the 99-100 plant guidlines for federal sentencing. buck up dude! Whats the old adage? dont do the crime if your not prepared to do the time! Word of advice, if you go to prison, get a tv.. makes your time fly by!
Don't fuck around. You will be in jail no matter it's one or ninety nine plants. But it all depends on a number of factors. You know what it's like in the jail.
