How much lime to raise soil ph

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Hayden2970, Jun 28, 2019.

  1. I bought dolomite lime . My soil is fox farm ocean forest. 3 gallon pots indoor. Ph 6.0 trying to get it to 6.5
. How much should I add to top dress at this point and should I reapply ever? Thanks

  2. Just do a couple small handfuls. You wont hurt them. Make sure you scratch it into the surface though or else it will harden up the top of your soil. I top dress all the time with lime and I have never measured the amount and have never had an issue.

  4. Does it matter what water ph is going into it? Like if I usually ph my water to 6.8 do I still do it? I know some people say soil buffers itself so idk what I'm supposed to do in general. Nobody gives me clear answers .

  5. Well are you organic or using synthetic nutrients? If you're organic, toss those meters in the trash. If you're using bottled fertilizer and the likes, you will probably need it. I have not touched a ph meter in many many years. Everything takes care of itself in a proper living organic soil. Not hating on your methods or anything, obviously do what you think is right, but I almost feel obligated to tell people the beautiful simplicity of organics since I changed over.

  6. I'm definitely switching. This is only my second grow. I was thinking about doing coco and mixing in dry amendments and all that so that'll be next grow

  7. You will be happy you did. Although, from what I have read, peat is a better option than coco because of whats called the cation exchange. You would have to read up on that to get a better understanding of why, I dont totally get it to be honest. Ive always used peat though. I buy a entire bale of peat for 7$ and add everything I need to that. I only use some small amounts of dry organic nutrients mixed in the soil with compost and lime, then top dress everything else. It really cant get any easier than that. Therea really no reason to do all that complicated stuff. In transparency, I only grow outdoors now, but in my prime I was running 8 1000w hps in flower and 8 t5s setups in veg, and my outdoor organic bud blows my old indoor shit out of the water on every mark. (Along with a perfected dry and cure, that took awhile as well)

A lot of the older nost expierenced gardens are doing Notill methods now and having good results but I haven't made the leap because everything runs to smooth the way I got it now. And it would be a massive 1st investment with 150 gallon pots I have
