How much light to start with?

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by Lukaszade, Mar 20, 2016.

  1. Hi,
so my seed has just sprouted today and I was wondering how much light I should give it. My last seed died within one week of germination but that could have been due to bad soil. Anyways, I'm a bit paranoid of putting it under my 250w HPS setup as I don't want it to wilt and die. It's currently chilling under a small 8 watt CFL. :) 1458486838281649202267.jpg 1458486894288942464399.jpg 1458486838281649202267.jpg 1458486894288942464399.jpg

    Any help is much appreciated.

  2. people say 100W actual per full size plant. my advice would be buy bigger bulbs either 23 or 42-45 w cfls they are more efficent then a bunch of smaller ones. have atleast 20w for a seedling like that add a couple more as it gets bigger.:)

    good luck

  3. Ok, maybe I was a bit vague. My question is, could I put the seedling under the 250W that I have pictured? If not, when could I expose it to that light?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. yes you can but Id argue a week or two under floros (root growth! minimal above ground "action") is best for a seedling or clone
