How moist should the soil be?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by emt1581, Oct 10, 2018.

  1. I'm growing in a 5 gal smart pot with Happy Frog soil, mammoth P, and Nectar for the Gods. In the solo cup I was using a spray bottle to mist the soil which worked really well. Now that my plants have been transplanted to the smart pots for 1 week and 2 weeks, I notice that the spray bottle isn't cutting it and only the surface is getting water. So I poured about a cup of water on each plant yesterday. They only signs I could see that more water might be needed from the one plant was that it started to curl it's outer leaves under a bit.

Thoughts? How do you gauge how moist to make the soil?

  2. Water the entire pot evenly and slowly. Let the water seep in. Do this until you are get about 10% runoff. Be sure to have plenty of perlite mixed in. Aids in drainage and root oxygenation. I would add maybe 25 %more to commercial soils geared towards cannabis.
  3. Are you saying to pour water in until 10% of it runs out of the bottom?

Also, how do I add perlite to soil of a plant already in the pot?

  4. Anyone?

  5. Yes until 10% of the water you have in the cup drains out the bottom. And you cannot add perlite unless you plan on transplanting again which I doubt you are
