Hi, i just built my scrog. Plant not ready to go under it yet but i was wondering how many times do i top the plant before she goes under it? Thanks
Anywhere from none to more than you could keep count of. I Top The Tips many times because they spend most of their vegging life without the screen but if you have the screen on them throughout veg you don't need to top at all. But doing it a few times does make filling out the screen evenly a little easier But once the screen is full it won't matter, you can't go wrong
Great stuff thanks, think ill maybe top twice. Scrog ive made is 17"x17" for one plant in a 12l bucket
At the min its still only a small plant still under 2 (45watt actual) 220watt cfls, within the next week or 2 ill be buying a tent for it to grow in with a 600watt hps
In that case I wouldn't bother with the 17" screen and just make a bigger one for the 600w HPS. Just keep TTT to keep it short and bush it out. The 17" screen will be too small for the 600w
Thanks for the reply. The tent im buying is 1.2mx1.2mx2m, i have 5 plants growing in total that i plan on putting in the tent with that 600watt. I was going to put the scrog in the middle and the other 4 plants around the corners of the scrog if you get me. Just to try out a scrog, i have the wood and stuff to build more scrogs on my next grow. Ive make my scrog mobile Hope what im planning will work, otherwise ill have a busy week building more scrogs lol. Thanks again
Yeah that will work just fine man. One thing I would change though is that cord net. A rigid screen is much better. You will find the plant will pull that cord all over the place. I use steel screen with 2" holes I have a tent of the same size with a 600w HPS. Right now I just have one plant ScrOGing but my next run will be 5 plants

Thanks i will look into that, mines at 2" holes aswell. The net ive made is wire just pulled as tight as i could, ill get down a home depo and see if they have anything i could use. I used wire so i could snip it off when i harvest then rewire it up for next go. Did you make your screen or buy it? Thanks
I bought the screen itself and cable tied it to pvc overflow pipe so it can be attached to the lid of my DWC reservoir. If you make the cord really tight and its not stretchy it might be ok. With the heavy duty framework you have you could pull it very tight I would imagine. Why would you want to cut it though?
I just read somewhere its easier to cut the net at harvest time to bring it all down. Ill see if i have anything at work i could use, ive got a good 3 weeks before the plants ready to go under so plently of time to make changes
I can't see how cutting the screen offers any advantage. I go through the plant cutting each stick of bud right on top of the screen. Once all of them are cut down the screen simply lifts off
Is welding rod harmful in anyway? Just been in the workshop at work and seen it, its got me thinking.
I have no idea. What rod is it? some rods are covered in flux, I don't even know what that's made from. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just buy a screen than to make one? Garden and pet stores and sections should have some

The wire you used will likely be fine as long as you tighten it right up. Because your frame is made from decking you will be able to tighten it as much as you want
I mite just give what i got ago then, keep it simple first time round. its only a trial 1st time growing and scrogging. Next grow i can alter/redesign scrog if needed.
