I'm wondering what most do. I'm new at it, but I suspect my method will be to root in a Jiffy tray, then transplant to a 12 or 16 oz Solo cup for veg, then on to the final five-gallon pot for flowering. I have some half-gallon pots as well that may come after the Solo cups, but for now, the plan is 2 transplants for me before harvest.
i use little 4 oz cups for rooting. once roots are established i transplant into 1 gallon for vegging then into 5 gallon buckets when i switch to 12/12. just a tip, you'll want more then a solo cup for vegging. use the jiffy tray, and i'd put them right into the 1/2 gallon pots once rooted.
Really old bump. But I wonder what others think about this. I've been considering how much water or nutrients you'd be wasting on a five gallon bucket if you were to put a plant that has only vegged a couple weeks in there. I'm thinking to germinate/seed in 18oz cups, then transplant to a 2 gallon for the rest of veg, then a 5 gallon for flower. Cause if you vegged in the 5 gallon seems like it'd be lots of watering and nutes.
