How many T5s

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by 406MattNe, Aug 17, 2010.

  1. Im going to be lighting a Bonsi mother box with a 4' T5 fixture.

    My inside dimensions are 27"X49".

My question is how many bulb fixture? 4,6,8?

My tendancies are to go with as much as will fit, and being T5 energy cost is not an issue, just the initial. But I dont really want to over spend.

If anyone has experiance with this kind of scenerio I'd appreciate any input.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I'm pretty sure the hydrofarm T5 units are about 2 feet across for the 8 tube unit.

You can use 2 foot or 4 foot and use 4,6 or 8 bulb units

My four footer ls 8 bulbs and 19" deep with two ballasts each controles four bulbs,i love it but it's the aquarium one which is more money but worth it imo.

Go for it,use four bulbs till you need 8 then it kicks ass.;)

    8-lamp
    120v/60Hz
    3.78A
    454W
    3”H x 26"W x 46"L
    Rated up to 37,600 lumens

those are the specs off Hydrofarm"s website, the 6 and 4 bulb fixtures are smaller.

I actually gathered the dimmentions before starting the build, to avoid frustration lol

    :D:D:D

  5. What brand lamp do you have?

  6. Tek-Light,the Aquarium one is much better(non-rusting/moisture proof and duel ballasts).

This one has the best reflective material as well but you wont like the price.;)
