I read somewhere to plant seeds as soon as they crack. Other places I've seen it say to wait for the root to be 1/4 to 1/2 ". Well I decided to plant my seeds in rock-wool cubes a day after the roots poked out. The roots were probably 1/8". The pre-made holes in my cubes were 1/2" deep so that's how deep I planted them. It's been 5 days and I still have no sprouts. I soaked the cubes in ph 5.5 water for an hour the day before I planted the seeds. I've been keeping the cubes moist with a weak strength nutrient solution with a ph between 5.5 and 6.5 They are getting plenty of air and I have 3 CFLs 16" from the cubes on 24 hours a day. Are they getting too much light? I read that you can sprout plants in complete darkness because until they have leaves they can't use light and instead they get their energy from the seed. Are they planted too deep? I read that 1/4" is how deep they should be planted and 1/2" is the max. Should I have waited until the roots were longer during germination? Do you think everything is fine and I just have to wait? The strain is pineapple kush btw.

They were planted a little deep yes. You don't need the light for them unless it's helping with warmth. I usually just brush the top of my soil until I see the tip of the seed. Then within a day it's sprouted. It's different with rock wool I know. If anything, dig it up and check it out. It's still "germinating" technically. If they seed didn't get planted with the tap root facing down it'll take longer to sprout as well Sent from my SM-G900V using Grasscity Forum mobile app

i never wait till i see a tail,,,i soak for 24 hours and the plant straight in to soil,(whether they sink or not) ,,then plant about quarter ins of soil above the top of seed,,,i plant straight into soil because i can be bit clumsy and dont wont to break the growing point of the tail off,,,it takes a bit longer to stick its head up above the soil you have to be patient no digging to see if its popped,,,but i grow femmed seed and dont wont to stress the seed/seedling in any way,,,but they usually show within a week 10 days,,,,,mac
I'm pretty sure I killed all my seedlings by over watering. I'm germinating 5 more and will try again.
what i do is just germinate with a wet paper towel, put the seeds on it fold it over,put it in a dark place, wait till i see a root, plant it a little less than 1/2 an inch in and just wait. Good luck my dude.
