How long should plants to acclimate when transplanted?

I transplanted 8" plants from soil to rockwool and hydroton. How long should it take for plants to solidify new roots? It has been about 2 weeks and 1 plant is solid. However, the other 3 have not. Should I be watering them very infrequently so the roots expand and search for water? Or have them on a regular water cycle of 3 times when lights on, 1 time when lights off? The plants definitely went through shock, I lost a few bottom leaves, but I do have new growth.
