Couldnt be more straight forward. If you have different lengths, please explain why. From seed I veg until it shows signs of sex. Clones I like to veg about a month.
From seed, 2 months. From clone, never really ran a set of clones but I'm think 6-8 weeks. Guess it kinda depends on the space and pot size I have.
Really it all depends on your grown room restrictions in both veg and flower. Don't veg for 2 months if you've got a 7 ft ceiling (Figure 1ft. for the pot, 1 ft for the hood, leaves you with 5ft for plant, but you cant have your plant touching...so now you're looking at MAX a 4ft. plant grown effectively). So now that you know how tall your plant can be, research its genetics and find a median for the height increase after flip. My strains flip and increase by nearly 50%... (Theoretical Grow) Now heres where various growing methods come into play...if we start FIM early, maybe top her once, and tie her down then we could surely fit the growth of a 4 ft. plant into a 3 ft. plant. Now she's about to flip, so we start pinching tops, there went another 8 inches! So we're at nearly 2 ft and we flip, finishing with quality nugs on plants around 3 ft. We yielded well and our plants were healthy, we had no heat issues because we had proper distance between our canopy and our lights, no high stress training was needed in flower because we did it all early on which resulted in superior branching. Seeds will always taking longer to get to the same height in veg, theres just more to the process and the fact that the clones has a good couple inches head start...I've also found that in general, seeds produce better plants; clones branch weird, they're alternating on the stalk instead of side by side as you'd find in a seed.
Sorry if this question is off topic, but I didn't know you could see the sex of the plant until it was in bloom? I'm a noob, and am on my first grow in flower, but I have a few in veg that are almost 6 weeks, some are from clone, and some my blue widow and ice bomb, are from fem seed. I was noticing today that the leafs were starting to stagger on the branch, much the way the girls did after I induced flower. Are you looking for the same white hairs and little balls?
Well put Kessy. I like how you added your strategies into it. I imagine LST would need a longer veg time as well, where a SOG you would use a short veg time.
If I Don't top, probably 3 or 4 weeks, If I top and keep real good training 6 weeks. all dependent on the growth rate... I have a White widow I haven't topped at 36" on the first day of flower while I have a Cheese 2x as bushy but 10" shorter on the same day.
