How Important is it to keep light out

    I am starting a hydro setup i am doing the bubbling technique and i wanted to know how important it is to keep light out of the resevoirwhere the roots will be
    Is it ok if i change the water once a week and clean the bucket good?

    If you let light in, that will increase algae growth which could ultimately kill your plants if you let it get too bad.

    If you're changing the res and cleaning every 10 days you shouldn't have too big of a problem unles your bucket is clear or something. If it is just white, you'll be ok.

    Just keep an eye on it to start.

    my buckets are a dark color just the lid doesnt fit on perfectly and light seeps through on the sides mabybe a 1/4 or and inch along the sides is exposed

    throw some duct tape on there? A quarter of an inch around is a lot of light to be letting in there.
