It is a form of securing it by me knowing what has been going on in my absence.
I won't have any surprises as for what may be trying to eat my plants or who may have been visiting.
As for the 'eating my plants' part I can focus on what to do to avoid damage. Regarding visitors - If those would be 'officials' I wouldn't go back, if rippers I would post the pics and videos on YouTube and they would become famous...lol :D
So far all that has gotten recorded were a few Coons and Armadillos sniffing around.

CLICK HERE for a little re-view about what I use. I bought it on Ebay for $200 (shipped) and it came with a camo set and a 2GB memory card. It works just as described! I absolutely love it! The pictures are great but the videos are absolutely incredible!

I can highly recommend this kind of surveillance, it gives me a great peace of mind.

  2. The "no flash" is awesome!!!

  3. That non visible infrared 'flash' functions as an invisible 'light' during video recordings, it's amazing how well it works and how far it goes. My cam is approx. 50ft away from the plants and movement detection works great from that distance. I have it set a way where it takes pics and videos, not just one of the two.
Of course you want to make sure you don't record yourself and leave behind that evidence...lol
I accomplish avoiding that by having two memory cards and putting in a fresh (and empty) one right when I leave.

  4. Hey, leapfrog, I think that is a brilliant bit of kit.

  5. +rep for being all james bond

  6. wish i set one of those up so i could see how nabbed my babies last season. .

  7. Do it NOW, you'll never know when the next a-hole will show up!

  8. james bond lol that's funny!

Thanks man, I appreciate the rep!

    :)

  9. what part of the country are u in?

  10. Deep in the tropics...

  11. how often do you check it, and won't the wind move something that would trigger the motion sensor?
    +rep anyways awesome Idea

  12. Excellent question!

No the motion sensor is heat activated (infrared sensor) meaning it detects rapid changes in temperature (it should be called 'heat sensor' but then everybody would bombard the manuf. with questions so they leave it simple by calling it a 'motion sensor')
Since humans and other mammals are warm blooded the only way to get around it would be in a space suit...and not many of us have those hanging in the closet...lol

How often do I check it...hmmm well basicaly every time I go there (2 to 4 times/week, depending on growing status).
I wouldn't have to check it that often (the memory card holds a LOT (weeks) of pics/videos) but I have to exchange that memory card every time or I would leave behind pics/videos of myself while checking my spot(s) and I don't wanna do that. There is a very very minimal chance the cam being spotted up in the tree between a bunch of vines but there is always that .001% and I don't want to find my ass in jail for growing something that should be as legal as Beer...

    Thanks for the rep!

  13. Awesome product. I would laugh my ass off if you are a salesman for this company, but will deff be buying one. Is there a cam like this that can transmit or email data so you if there are humans in the pics you know not to go back? + rep for the find

  14. Ha lol hell no I am not! I am in to gadgets quiet a bit (how could you guess?...lol) and no there is none which does that for a reasonable price. It could be done but it would burst the average Dude's budget, that's for sure! The ones already available cost $1,000's and they are a PITA to deal with for our purpose (size, battery's etc.)

    Thanks for the rep!

OK for those who are interested below a picture of another brand new cam I bought the other day.
I was just done putting on the camo set, thought some of you might like to see how that looks like.
Next time I go to one of my already installed cams if I don't forget I will take a picture of one sitting in a tree...then again that doesn't really make sense because you wouldn't be able to spot it from a distance...lol and to be honest who would look up in to trees trying to find a well hidden trail cam in first place...

  16. ttt so more can learn about this.

  17. Hey, I like that gizmo.

  18. Could also be a good general Anti Intruder alarm.

  19. Good point but who's gonna walk around with a cell phone with video mode on after dark in a suspected growing area looking for infrared flashes...lol

Infrared mode works only @ night and is good for taking pics/vids of critters.
During the day it is off.

  20. With harvesting time being around and reading all these "I got Ripped" stories I am bringing this thread back up.

Well invested $200 I can tell ya!

You always know what's going on.
