I've got 6 plants - aiming for 4-5 ft - biggest yield possible the room is an easy 10 by 10 and 12 feet up my question is, how far up do I have to have this light? I will be wrapping the back wall the plants are going to be against with Nylon or mylar as well, and the floor infront of plants (bounce that light back up if possible) From seed to harvest , I've no idea. 2 to 4" is the CFL >.> but i know 1000w hps/mh is waaaaaaaay more powerful >.>
A 1000 w light won't light that whole room, it's generally good for a 5x5' footprint. I'm not sure on exact distance, but there is a great chart in the lighting section with distances vs lumens for hid lighting.....the limiting factor will be temperature, hopefully that light is air cooled as those babies put out a TON of heat.
My flower area is 48 sq ft with 4000w, that is what 83w/sq ft. Use the back of your hand to judge radiant heat from the light, if it is hot on your hand your plants will hate it. Yoyo's are great for raising and lowering lights. flat white paint > mylar
General rule of thumb 1000w = 5'x5' area You have 4 of those areas......so you would require 4x1000w And as far as light distance. To make things proper you should always be adjusting the light....even tho its a pain in the ass Here is a chart that measures watts vs distance vs lumens Metal Halide High Preassure Sodium
i see.. and does a cooltube take away any lumens or anything the plant needs? I really cant make a good vent system where it's at it's winter now so it will suck it horrid cold air and kill my plants or my electric with the heater going off to keep it 75-80F and if the cooltube doesnt take anything away i can use that for heat reduction
I couldn't imagine 1000w/25 sq ft personally, anything under 1000w/16 sq ft is definately lacking imo. Like I said I have 48 sq ft with 4000w and I am considering adding another 1000w.
