How easily does a cannabis plant grow outdoor?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by agressiveskunk, Feb 6, 2011.

  1. I'm planning on starting my first grow. (noob )

    2 Feminized Himalayan Gold
    1 Feminized undefined Skunk
4 unknown strains, unknown genres (from Africa, i'm sure)

So, as far as getting busted goes, I don't think it'll happen. I live in somewhat of a village, those kind of places where you can walk in the middle of the street without having to fear getting hit by a car. :p

But my question is : I live in Portugal, we have a meditarranean climate (15ºC - 25ºC at Spring; 20ºC - 35ºC on Summer), the soil I'm going to plant my babies in is grassy at points, with lots of blackberry bushes and dead tree material. That's pretty much everything I know about the place...Oh, and the sun almost always will hit the plants, no shadow problems.

If I were to just germinate the seeds and then plant them on the soil outside, water them and maybe throwing some banana peels and fish there (I heard they work good as nutrients) and let nature do the rest will it survive and grow enough for me to harvest?

I know the info is not much but it's all I really know about it too. I was wondering if it'd work or not...

    Thanks in advance!

I grow in Blackberry bushes and know a little about them. They like rich loam, slightly acidic and well drained. They abhor cold air and so they often grow on slopes or elevated areas where the cold air drains away, and these are very good conditions for cannabis. When i plant in Blackberry patches, i add 1/2 cup of good lime to raise the ph about 1/2 a point, which is perfect.

I would avoid the fish parts or other items that might attract animals to your plants or might encourage them to dig. Ive used organic nutes in the past and it was like ringing the dinner bell for every raccoon, oppossom, skunk, groundhog in the area to feed. They reapeatedly dug up every plant i had.

    Good luck

  3. i would think cannabis would grow very well in portugal
you just have to worry about watering them.

  4. Thanks for the info and the tip on the lime :smoke:

I don't know much about the fauna in my area, not sure about skunks and that. More like horses and the like...

I'll probably try some organic on the african seeds, just to see how it works because they're the ones I'm least concerned with, the weed isn't that good most of the times and I'm not sure about their genres.

But what do you sugest instead of organic nutes, then? I'm not feeling like spending 30 bucks on a bottle of nutes...

  5. no no go with organics, basic soil and some variations of bat guano works wonders.

  6. Yea, that's what I was thinking of doing. Not sure about the guano bc I don't know where to get it...I can get like farm fertilizer, plenty of horse shit laying around here, ahaha :p

  7. chicken poo, cow poo, all kinds of poo works, guano is bat poo lol
just make sure the npk ratio's are good.

  8. lol. Yea, I know guano is bat doo-doo, hence the suggestion of using horse's shit :p

NPK? Not familiar with the term, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to planting, I just know the basics...And how can I measure the ratio?

  9. it should say on the bag or talk to the person you buy it from.

    N-nitrogen
    P-phosphorus
k-potassium (dont know why its k :smoke:)

high N is good for vegetative grow 6-2-2(spring)
a balanced npk for normal growth 5-5-5 or so (summer)
high P and K for bud development 2-5-6(autumn/fall)
keep in mind these are generalizations

you wanna feed your plants 1/4 strength of what the bag recommends every 2 weeks or so, yet again a generalization, read the directions on the bag and do 1/4 or 1/2 of it.

asshole moment: research a little bit more.

  10. I was thinking organic, hence, not buying anything bagged.

When I suggested horse shit, I didn't mean't buying it, I mean't like scooping that shit of the road/grass and just put it in a bag. I don't know how to ferment it or anything so it can be used as fertelizer, nor do I know how to measure the NPK ratio, that's why I asked.

Of course I can follow instructions on a bag but that's not what I was planning.

If it comes down to it though, I guess I'll have to buy it...

  11. that could work, although it'd be really smelly. but here in the
states you can buy manure for vegetable fertilizer in a bag, im
completely ignorant to how things are in portugal except the
decriminalization there so forgive me :smoke:

  12. do you have any advice on growing autoflowers outdoors in northern arkansas? like when the best time to plant?

  13. lol. I could buy it too but I was thinking of not spending much money and let it be all natural.

Well, it's decriminalized but it isn't as good as one may imagine...It's better than going to jail but a fine is a pain in the ass too. Also, you can only cary a certain amount but cops will mess with you just because you're smoking...I only had a spliff when I got busted and they still fucked me up, bastards
