I will be using this for the base soil: Premier Organic Potting Soil, 25L | Canadian Tire Worm casting compost: CIL Plus! Worm Casting Compost | Canadian Tire Kelp meal mix (I think I'll have to mix this 1:1 with the base soil, no? CIL Plus! Triple Mix + Kelp | Canadian Tire Perlite: Google Image Result for http://ozbo.com/media/1/195810.jpg Vermiculite: Shultz | Vermiculite - 9 Litre | Home Depot Canada Dolomitic Lime: CIL Granular Dolomitic Limestone | Canadian Tire Blood&Bone meal: CIL Blood and Bone meal, 1.5 kg | Canadian Tire Now what I'm wondering is, do I need all this stuff? How do I go about mixing it all, and which ratio's should I use? Do I necessarily need to let it sit for several weeks like people say? I have a plant that's root's are coming out the drainage holes and need to transplant asap. Any ideas?
I would ditch the blood and bone meals and replace with alfalfa meal and fish bone meal/fish meal. Would also get some rock dust and add 4-5 cups per cf.... Mix your base 1/3 ea potting soil, compost and perlite. The vermiculite is optional. Add amendments/lime @ 1 cup each per cf of base soil mix and cook for 3-4 weeks. You can pot up to a larger pot before final transplant with just the base mix(no amendments)while the medium is cooking then transplant when done....
