How does this light need to be positioned?

  1. Thats just a bulb brother...

    Wheres the fixture? light hood?

  2. Haven't gotten any of it yet. I've just heard that some lights need to be hung differently and I wanna get the right stuff the first time.

  3. I hear you brother. Get a hood/ballast then worry about the bulb.

    Kushed

  4. I've already decided on the bulb and ballast, I just need to figure out how the lights hangs so I know the type of hood to get. Thanks brother.

The bulb can hang however you want it to. Decide what type of grow you are going to do (SoG, SCoG, Full, etc), then buy the hood that works best for your situation - IF you even need a hood <vertical set-up wont require a hood> (Not everyone has same GR set-ups - Some are big, some small, some tall or short, round, rectangular, stacked, etc).

Since this is likely your first grow, I'd suggest that you keep costs down, and buy a cheap 400W Ballast/Bulb/Hood combo (About $125). Don't go spending a lot of money on larger wattage set-ups when you are not familiar with what you're doing yet.

A lot of the members here (and a few of the other good forums/sites) will help you out every step of the way. Once you have a good feel for growing your bud, then decide if you want to move up in lamp-size. Remember this: 600W HPS are the most cost efficient.

  6. Thanks for the info.

  7. anytime. :smoke:

  8. One more question about the bulb. Will it get hot enough in a tent to necessitate a hood with a fan system?

  9. I think basically anything over a 150w HPS/MH setup WILL need fans brother. That bulb is going to be super hot, especially that 1000watter. Check out others tents and setups and you'll know what you need.

  10. Thanks man, I'm gonna add you as a friend.

  11. The hood itself doesn't need to have a fan, but you definitely want a fan in there! In-general you want your fan(s) down low, and your exhaust up high. However, that is always dependent on your set-up. Some set-ups are better served by having the fan blowing down from a high position (this is usually with larger set-ups).
Everything is always dependent on your set-up. Harmony is key.
